Schefter: Fins zeroing in on Kubiak, Shanhan, or McAdoo for OC

I don't think it will matter much if Philbin does not win this year because he will be out. So if taking Kubiak gets Philbin into the playoffs IMHO Philbin won't care about any future threats from his hiring.

i'm not sure that's true that he will be out...depends on why we lose probably but i do think that if nothing else there will be more heat on him this year to make the postseason...

but i've thought it would have been a mistake to cut ties with philbin as the hc all along during the last week plus so...:idk:

The merits to kubiak are obvious still....
It appears that Miami is going after younger more hungry guys with all these searches.
I think that having an established oc who was very set in his ways had many faults in our current regime.
It is curious that most seem to want to replicate that model with Kubiak.

Sherman and Kubiak run similar offenses. The difference is, Gary Kubiak's just a better coach.

At least Kubiak would be a candidate to take over as interim coach when we have to fire Philbin 10 games in.

Probably not something you want to bring up in an interview.

Ross: "So, Gary... I think we're about done here. Oh, actually, one more thing. If we have to fire Joe half way through the season, how would you feel about being the interim coach?"

Kubiak stares blankly at Ross.

Ross: "I mean, you know. If it happens. Totally not saying it will. Right Carl?"

Ross turns to Peterson, who's making a face like someone just farted.

Kubiak looks at his watch.

Kubiak: "Uh, actually, you know.... I've got a... thing to get to. You know how it is."

Ross: "Did I say something wrong?"

Kubiak: "You? No, not at all. But it's just this, you know. A thing."

Kubiak gets up, shoving papers into his briefcase. Walks/sprints out.

The door shuts. A long pause.

Peterson turns to Ross.

Peterson: "You're a ****ing dunce, you know that?"

And... scene.

If K. Shan, McAdoo and Kubiak are truly the three I am happy. I can see merits in all of them.

McAdoo- Its obvious most homology. Drawbacks least experience.

K. Shan- last year the guys a genius and hc candidate, this year he is a dope. If there is anyone out that is looking to prove the world wrong its him. I don't think you see him run rt to contact if for no other reason that everyone slammed him for it in DC.

Kubiak- Most established and on paper best candidate. Drawbacks- how motivated is he, how flexible, how much fire, what about his health.

The danger of hiring someone who is a better coach than you are. He might end up taking your job.

Doesn't matter if you hire someone who could replace you or someone else. You'll only get fired if your team doesn't perform and then you could care less about your successor.

Kubiak, McAdoo, Lazor, Shannahan in that order to me. getting any of the top three will be good, not so sure about shannahan.

Give me Gary Kubiak and then draft Tre Mason, or Carlos Hyde in the 2nd round.

Playoffs.

The day we make a Dion Jordan-like series of trades to move up and get a Tre Mason or another offensive playmaker, will be the day we can officially declare the Nightmare of the Dolphins OVER.

It will signal that this team finally, at long last, GETS IT.

tre mason and lamar miller is quite the thunder and lightning combo...

as others have mentioned... how is kubiaks health?

it will be mcadoo i know people close to him, as long as joe philben's job is safe and stable then ben as the inside track, not to mention hes the one behind the success of that packers offense it was never philben

Just wondering who are these people? Parents, siblings, aunts/uncles or maybe cousins? You can pm me if you don't want it on the board.

mcadoo was only the QB coach right? how does he have a bigger stake building that offense then the OC or the head coach who actually called the plays. just asking, I know he helped Rodgers
