Schefter on mike & mike, thinks miami has a good team.

Did Greenberg's and Golic's head explode, because weren't they just saying how bad things were in Miami? Not a real big fan of Schefter ever since he went to ESPN. Seemed to get real full of himself, but I guess that means he just fits in.

He is 100% accurate though, Miami is a very good team, they just have question marks at quarterback. There is still a chance Henne could become a solid starter(I have my doubts) since this will be only his second season he is entering as a starter.

This team has the foundation of a playoff team. Likely top 5 defense, solid receivers, new offenseive scheme, revamped rushing attack and what I see as a much improved offensive line(even with Colombo at RT). With Henne, this is likely a 9 win team and will be competing for a playoff spot. It is not doom and gloom like some here expect.

I think a lot of fans are doom and gloom -because- we're likely to be around 6-9 wins and not going anywhere. We're just going to linger around average interminably. A 9 win season is probably the worst of all outcomes because it means we keep the same QB, same coach, etc.

This should be a top 5 defense that can give Brady a headache but if the Pats play shell coverage, Daboll has to adjust. Henning was horrible with in game adjustments and continued to force Henne throwing into a shell. If Daboll can make use of quick slants and get 1 on 1 matchups especially with Reggie, then the offense can go as far as Henne can take them.

Here's my prediction and it's not negative we don't make the playoffs we fire the coaching staff hire Bill Cowher and draft a QB. I want to win as much as anyone but we have a lame duck coach QB with zero confidence getting booed at practice a new OC with very little time to implement his system and a really good defense that again will become frustrated with lack of production from offense.

yep...

Schefter is right. We do have a really good defense and some play-makers on offense. He's also correct in that we have serious QB issues. EVERYBODY in the league (with the exception of a few who are drinking the Kool-aid) agrees with this including our former first round RB who's gone to Philly. Now where he starts to lose me is when he says we have a good OL and that Henne will eventually be a decent NFL QB. The line, with a couple exceptions is in flux. We keep trying to fix those holes and keep having problems. I hope with Long and our new center, that help stabilize enough of the line where we can patch the rest of the holes. As far as Henne being a decent NFL QB . . . . . maybe a decent backup NFL QB, but not a starter by any means.

OH boy Rob Ninkovich is hitting the jugs machine. Getting those hands ready to catch some lasers from Henne that are right too him.

For the record, Golic wasn't there. Schefter was filling in for him with Greenie. I turned it on right in the middle of the conversation about Miami but I heard Greenie say that adding Reggie Bush is like putting a pair of nice shiny rims on a crappy car, or something like that. Schefter said basically what the OP paraphrased. He said Miami just needs a quarterback and they have good young players on defense, the offensive line, and some playmakers. He said Henne could still be that qb but isn't so sure. Greenie didn't sound convinced.

To hell with Greenie, he's just pissed his Jets didn't get Nnamdi.

Its the perfect time to see the patsies, everything is all new on offense. Bill really won't know what to expect. As far as the shell, unless Henne learns how to beat it, he won't be long in the NFL

I tentatively agree with this. My head has been spinning since the FA period begin. My concern is like everyone else, the QB spot. I was hoping a big splash would be made to improve that position, but this is not a perfect world, and FA does not always pan out as any NFL team would hope for. I can't even blame them for not trying, because they did.

So they went with "Plan B", improving the offensive line, bring in a change of pace RB, and drafting speed. I do like the idea of moving Vernon Carey to RG becasue he is a powerful run blocker, but I hope they are not counting on Colombo as the RT. I hope the money they saved from Carey's restructure will be to either, bring in Orton (which I doubt), or bring in the best RT availble. Protecting Henne will be extremely vital to this teams success, and we have to do this consistently without max protect formations.

I think we do have a good team too, but I am anxious about our team's success depending on Henne's performance.

The defense should be fun to watch :)

And it is not always lollipops and rainbows like some on here think as well.
No one thinks things are perfect.

The FO promised us to upgrade the QB position and bring it completion and we get Matt Moore….REALLY.
I wanted an upgrade at QB, but did the front office actually promise this? I recall Ireland and Sparano back in February or March saying they believed in Henne, wanted to build around him, but bring in competition. If anything, they did exactly what they promised.

The Dolphins do have a great defense, but that is not enough. Revamped Offense?!?!....We will see about that. We all know what kind of offense Sparano likes. RUN RUN RUN…..FG….. I have a feeling that the offense won’t open up as much as some of you think.
Likely top 5 defense, and apparently you even agree with that. I don't expect a wide open spread offense like the Patriots or Saints, but I do expect it to open it up more than last year. The offense will be improved for the fact alone that they replaced Henning with a young, smart new offensive coordinator. Will they have an elite offense? No. Top 15? Very possible.
The Dolphins are so close to being a serious contender. QB and coaching staff minus Nolan are holding this team back big time.

So you admit this team is close, with the exception of a QB. Henne was 7-8 last year, and with improved defense, a new offensive scheme, more speed on offense and a better supporting cast for Henne, why can't this team win at least 9 games and contend for the playoffs? You don't like the coaching staff, I understand that. Though when you are blindly bashing them and just writing them off, keep in mind that during their three seasons here, they have a winning record, one playoff berth and a division championship. All that after inheriting a 1-15 team that was the worst team in franchise history.

Henne will improve this year with the upgrade o-line and reggie bush creating mismatches and gates to stretch the field. Anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy. We still finished 7-9 last year....could realistically go 9-7 or 10-6. Does not matter if your 14-2 (patriots last year) or 13-3 (Falcons last year) as long as you can sneak into the playoffs, you have a chance. GB only had 10 wins last year and the patriots and falcons both were 1 and done.
I'm hoping a new coordinator that calls plays that enable him to get into a rhythm will help.

Those first 2 games at home are HUGEEEEE for the Dolphins. If Miami can find a way to beat New England opening night and then FINALLY beat Houston and start the season 2-0 at home . . . . Henne can win over alot of people. He can also lose the fans he has left.
Great post, resumes my feelings.

I just wonder how are we going to run the ball this year with 2 guards that can't pull. I mean, are we going to just run straight ahead on every down? and in order to run it inside you have to trow deep from time to time so who are we going to trow it deep to? I'm hoping Gates will get a chance but with all our 2 wr's set when is he going to play?

Ozzy rules!!

Fasano deep over the middle threat - ;)

Green Bay also has A.Rogers and we have Henne.

It's been a while since I've written on this board because I saw there was enough negativity out here that I didn't need to add my 2 cents. I think what Adam is saying is what a lot of scouts have been saying, he's got all the tools except he is missing a crucial aspect, his football Instincts. It's almost as if he is not able to process everything going on when he plays live. He has the arm, the size and the strength to be a very good QB but he just doesn't have that instinct that allows him to make plays on the fly. I agree with Adam whole heartedly, if he relaxes and starts letting the game flow and he works in it he will be a pretty good QB. The question is, will he ever.
