Schefter Reveals Incognito's Voicemails

Michael Vick murdered dogs for sport. Verbal abuse to another human being is not quite as damning. Particularly when it's presented to us outta context. Facts first, then judgement.

A rogue racist player that your FO and coaching staff knew about, and still let it go on. Have fun with this!

I love how you are living in the past, lets talk about the here and now!! Throw all of that out there, its not my team that is on the hot seat this morning.

Patience. Learn to acquire some.

Incog crossed the line with the racial stuff.

But, Martin most be the softest NFL lineman in the history of football. Guys give eachother crap in sports 24/7. Hell, there were things just as bad said in my college baseball locker room!! Most of it in fun joking around, kangaroo court etc.

The media is acting like Martyin is a 5 year old on the playground. If he is too soft of a human being to stand up to a "bully" he has no place in the NFL..He should go become a stock broker. But im guessing the high pressure of being a stock broker would be too much for him too.
Maybe he should go be a school bus driver...Wait what if a kid calls him a name? Will he crash the bus and try to kill everyone?
I got it he can be a lawyer. What nvm if he goes to trial the opposing counsel may say something mean to him!!

Incognito seems like a dick, and probably took it too far. But Martin being an extremely feeble weak human being caused it to comer out and turn in to a media circus..
Ive played sports with soft guys before, usually they just take the crap in stride, but it was never racial, or threatening. looks like Incog took it too far with the worst possible target

There are still a lot of questions?
What did Martin say in reponse to these voice mails?
Why did he throw a hissy fit last week when these VMs are from April? Did his position move play into it?
Did incognito treat other guys like this?
Did the other O lineman pick on Martin too? Was it more than any other young guy/ rookie?
It was pretty obvious even in hard knocks Martin is a pu**y.

Remember Cognito was one of Sparano's guys. Liked him for his play and being a "fast twitch" player at his size and position. Sparano had him on a short leash and doesn't seem like anyone held onto that leash after Sparano left? The whole hazing thing from bring donuts for the coach or carrying a team mates shoulder pads is ridiculous. Either hazing or no hazing...not just a little bit here and there?...not need for that at the pro level. Anybody remember how rookie Tim Bowens didn't tolerate any of that stuff?

why is he a jerk for saying that? what he says makes perfect sense. if you continue to get bullied and never stand up foe yourself the bully will keep taking your lunch money everyday.

And therefore it's ok to bully?

I'm hoping that's not what you mean.

I gotta admit, when I first hear there were voicemails I was bracing for the worst. This is actually pretty tame locker room speak.

Now just to play devils advocate here, let me post as if I were defending Cogs.

April is when these voice mails were left. This is right around training camp. For sure Cogs is still gonna see Martin as a rookie as he still is. I've been lucky enough to be a part of a locker room with really tight guys, like a brother hood, with all different races. In those situations we feel comfortable using those slurs as they aren't intended for anyone else to hear. It may be juvenile but it's how we spoke. Last, Martin is on Twitter boasting about working out for 10 weeks. Cogs could be just tying to keep him level headed, always reminding him there is someone else bigger and stronger who is working just as hard if not harder.

I think its safe to say that if you look at the comments in the context up above it changes the entire dynamics of the story. Gonna be interesting to see what comes out when Cogs is able to tell his side of the story.

Martin didn't need to do anything. Why should he fight back?

Could this have been handled in house? Possibly.

Still, Martin didn't have a responsibility to do anything other than tell someone what happened. Which he did and thought it was handled.

How are racist threats okay in any context?

I love everyone downplaying the situation..

I'm half black half white. No one has ever called me a half ****** who was joking. 100% of the time it was a heated situation. But I am a little hot headed too so things like that piss me off and light a fire. Don't get confused though, the people who called me that weren't trying to light that fire they were trying to "put me in my place"

don't condone bullying, I was just saying if you continue to take it it will not atop, it will just continue and more than likely get worse
