Schein: Ross is clueless and Miami has the worst quarterback corps in the league

I have more credibility than most on here so that doesn't concern me.

Again, over the last decade I don't consider the jets elite but in rex;s time here(the relevant time for most of these discussions) the Jets have been elite. You need to consistently be near the top of the league to be elite, 2 of 3 seasons(67%) they have been near the top of the league. if you go '07-'10 the Gianst were near the top one of those 4(25%)./ A SB win means moe than a title game app so that bumps them up but again I'm using your definition so according to your logic you have to maintain success for years after your SB win- ZERO playoff wins tells me they didn't maintain success.

You're telling me I'm wrong based on my own definition of what elite and having success is. The only person who can tell me I'm wrong would be myself seeing as how these are my opinions.

They had one semi-successful season- great reg season and collapse in 1st postseason game. They didn't have success the next 2 years, the records were ok but in '10 they had a chance to take control of playoff destiny in week 16 at GB- they lost 45-17 where the elite QB threw 4 INts(part of his 25 for the season). In 2009 they were 8-8, that's good? so you are saying we had a good season this past year, right? The jets at least somewhat competed the last 2 weeks losing 2 close games while the last 2 games of 2009 the Giants lost 41-9 and 44-7.

30-18 is successful especially when you take into account that they went 22-10 outside of their 8-8 season. Try and make yourself feel better all you want, the Giants are elite and the Jets have never been.

That's mostly based on a 12-4 season in 2008 where they were 1 and done in the playoffs losing at home 23-11 where the elite QB threw zero TDs, 2 INts and led his O to 9 pts. In 2010, they had their chance and got crushed at GB where the elite QB threw 4 INTs.

The Giants are elite based on a rational definition of being elite but based on yours they were not in '07 and we'll find out about '11 in the coming years.

You must have some chemical imbalance that prevents you from remembering bits of information. After a while it's like you blank out during a discussion seeing as how I never said the Giants were elite in 2007. I've said a hundred times the Giants are only now elite b/c of their SB win in '11.

Elite:

1. Win a championship
2. Maintain success after championship

That's all. You don't consider the Giants having success in between SB runs, good for you. They're still elite now.

zero playoff wins and missing playoffs 2 of 3 years after winning SB is maintaining success? based on your criteria the '07 team was not elite and the '11 team is TBD

I don't know what else to say. You just pasted my quote where I said the Giants weren't elite in '07. I don't understand why you insist I said otherwise.

The 2011 team is not TBD b/c the franchise has won 2 SBs in 5 years. It's as simple as that.

Yep. 30-18 is a successful 3 year run.

you aren't using your criteria then b/c ZERO playoff wins and 1 playoff app in the 3 years after winning the SB is not maintaining success.

So kind of you to tell me I'm not using my own criteria. I must have dementia or something. Anyway, I've said countless times in this thread that I consider the Giants 30-18 record in between SB wins to be a success. Could they have done more, of course.

I'm done with this topic now. Giants are now elite, Jets never were, Dolphins haven't been since the early 70s, the sky is blue and water is wet.

zetro playoff wins, 1 playoff app in 3 years is not success no matter what way you slice it especially coming off a SB win.

25 page thread dedicated to determining whether a QB is or is not "elite"...after having won as many SB's in the last 4 years as our combined franchises have won in the last 40.

Winning the Super Bowl this past February throws a big FU monkey wrench into all that, though.

Has anyone mentioned that Mark Sanchez is a terrible quarterback and that Tim Tebow is worse? I don't know if anyone's covered that in this thread...just wanted to make sure...

How many times are you going to repeat the same thing?

Until it sinks in.

I have said the Giants are elite, I'm just using phinz's definition of elite, if he uses his criteria the Giants aren't elite. For me winning one SB whether you went 9-7 or 15-1 in that season makes you elite.

I'd actually love to see you and Junc have a discussion about Sanchez. I mean the rest of us have gotten in countless chats with him but you've stayed away. Until now? :d-day:

You can't tell me I'm not following my own criteria seeing as how its mine and all mine.
