All of our receivers are similar in size and weight and ability. Only Wallace possesses top speed. Philbin is putting together a receiver group that can be put in any spot on the field. This was his plan since coming from GB.
From that film, what stands out are two things: Great hands, very good concentration. He also looks like he can do more than Gibson in terms of routes. But checking Rotoworld, I saw Hamstring injury, then a Quad injury which lingered. If he can stay healthy it's a great pickup, I think. If not, a non-factor then.
For now, I'm more interested in his kick return ability and playing ST's overall.
burst huh...
this guys got no burst...it's a big part of why his career should have been over already...that and he can't separate...
Ya .... DRAFT somebody at the WR spot. Stop wasting our time dumpster diving.
I'm guessing you think this was a home run signing though. Pity.
Jesus Christ man. It doesn't have to be one extreme or the other. No one said its a home run signing.
He's a young guy with good height and some speed who we're giving a chance to wow in training camp and preseason to see if he can break the rotation. Plus, he's coming to an offense that uses more multiple WR sets than Tennessee and a better QB situation. The potential is there.
You're whole "look at me, I'm the cool contrarian guy because the rest of you are homers" schtick is so old and played out. Stop stirring the pot and causing arguments where there are none. No one is pretending we just signed Megatron.
Ryan Tannehill needs somebody to throw the ball to while Gibson and Hartline rehab.
Once a guy has been in the league for 3 years, his college scouting report don't mean jack. His pro report.....? IMHO I think he's a solid # 4 receiver to start the season with, if a guy goes down during the year, he becomes an acceptable #3. We know have two guys like this in Matthews and Williams. Throw in Binns, Kevin Cone and either a late round draft pick or a couple of UDFA's to compete during training camp and preseason...I'm fairly happy with our receiver corp. I'd love a Megatron, but we now have much more pressing needs than wide receiver.
OT
OG
at least one versatile C-G backup development guy
TE
OLB
and maybe a safety to try to develop to push Jones or insurance if Michael Thomas doesn't pan out as the 3rd safety.

Have you read the two threads about Williams? There are actually people who think he's a legitimate insurance policy to either Hartline or Gibson. They rehash old college scouting reports and speak in the tongue of "upside potential" (as is typically seen for every average receiver we ever sign). I can go to the threads about Williams, Rios, Spadola, Binns, and Cone and it's like ground hogs day.
My major point of contention though is I've seen this before in this organization leading up to drafts. They start stocking up on project/reclamation WR's and give it less attention in the draft by waiting until the project rounds. T'would seem it's been that way ever since the Ted Ginn mistake. In a perfect world where Tanny actually has chemistry with Wallace and Gibson/Hartline aren't coming off knee surgeries I wouldn't even spend a moment on this subject. But that's not the case right now. There is LEGIT talent in this draft that will be shameful if wasted.
