Seantrel Henderson vs. Cameron Wake: Doug Marrone confident in rookie

A lot of teams would keep their RB in or use them to chip at least…but that puts the Bills in a tough spot because their RBs are huge weapons in their passing game.

If they try to block Wake one on one though he is going to wreak havoc out there…per the usual

They will probably put a TE on that side to help out. Will not matter.

What Henderson doesnt understand is that he may well handle Wake for most of the first half and feel real good about himself....only to wonder wtf suddenly happened in the 3rd/4th.

Wake picks his spots. He learns the snap. He learns his opponents strengths and weaknesses and then waits for the kill.

Cam Wake is an animal. He smells his prey. and from the high powered crap he eats....he's always hungry!

Whats funny is look at the one strip sack of Brady. He beats Vollmer and the RB totally whiffs because Cam shot out of the cannon so fast and went inside to Brady that he couldnt keep his balance.

Wake schools all pros and vets....

they will help Henderson out, so I could see Odrick, Vernon and McCain cutting loose

Henderson is vulnerable to players with a good bullrush. Despite his huge size he's not that confident in his anchor because when he loses his technique it's invariable that he gets his weight too far over his feet, which leaves him susceptible to counter moves where he can be pulled forward and discarded.

Wake might be a Lamar Houston-esque mauler but what he is is 250 pounds of muscle with cleats at the bottom that has a great bullrush for his size, and if I was him I'd spend the early part of the game getting under Henderson's pads and therefore his skin. That will leave the counters open to him later on.

On the other hand I think Cody Glenn is not a good matchup for Olivier Vernon. Glenn is a mountain who has more seasoning that Henderson, and Vernon isn't the kind of physical dynamo that Wake is. The best move for Vernon will be what has become a reasonably good spin move, which should be effective if he's judicious with it and spends enough time trying (in vain it will mostly be) to attack Glenn's outside shoulder.

The main weakness on the Bills offensive line are their guards, who are both mediocre at best. Their LG, Chris Williams, a former #14 overall LT bust for the Bears, is actually a sub mediocrity who is way too high cut to be an effective guard.

I respect that Marrone is saying the right things to boost Henderson's confidence.

I fully expect they will put more than one body on Wake Sunday. If they don't, they'll regret it.

I'm sure they will, but any play where Fred Jackson is blocking is a good play for us. EJ Manuel loves to check the ball down and that's one fewer option that he'll have.

Despite our LB injuries I think we'll see a lot of A gap blitzing on Sunday. At minimum we'll see a lot of linebackers in the A gaps threatening blitz. Showing an A gap blitz forces the offensive line to account for it in their protections, which will not allow the Bills to give Henderson help from the guard (with Wood, who is excellent, taking on the DT to that side 1 on 1).

The problem is that showing an A gap blitz can be a hazard to your run fits. So there will have to be some give and take. On sure fire passing downs I'd expect to see that look, though. Which might actually lead the Bills to run draws out of the shotgun on more 3rd and ~9 situations than one would expect.

Agree, the most amazing thing I see from a pass rusher now is when Cam goes up the line then with one foot plant accelerates laterally right into the QB. I dont know if he sees a slight turn of the OT tackle or what but that plant and explosion just isnt real. Nobody does it like him, QBs cant even step up. Just unreal. A young tackle will be baited into that once or twice, EJ will be in trouble.

From a development standpoint I want to see what James can do. His pass blocking has been like a wall for the most part. If he hangs here we should feel good about our tackles for a bit.

Wake is going to have himself a lot of fun on Sunday.

By fun do you mean getting destroyed by a rookie 7th rounder?!

Man, dolphin fans sure love to overrate their players and underrate others
