Shemar Stewart

You can probably live with 8 sacks a year and plus level poa play in the run game from a top 20 edge.

When you get to 6 sacks or worse a year your teetering on mid round type return. Base des that can play the run and be good at the poa can be found anywhere.

Clelin Ferrell wasn’t a bust as a top 5 pick with the raiders because of his poa run d play. It was cause he didn’t impact the qb as a finish sack production player enough. And guess what? He’s been a journeyman year to year type ever since that rookie deal expired as a result.

Outside shoulder win off the edge is paramount when it comes to projecting pass rusher sack impact potential. It’s much easier for me to project it if a guy shows he can gain the outside shoulder. It sets up tackles to have to overset and open up redirect inside moves etc.

I would rate Stewart and McMillan as the two most polarizing non-QBs in this draft. Both of them have Hall of Fame upside, as well as major bust potential.

Whoever takes these two have cajones of steel.
If either of them are available at 13 would you pull the trigger?

I would.

I know that a lot of brothers really worry about busts, but ive always been a believer in swinging for the fences in round one.

These are the types of guys Grier drafts early and then the Dolphins proceed to not win playoff games.

They need to not take guys with questions of their production and commitment.

There’s no question of Stewart’s commitment, every report says he’s a good kid that loves football.

These question of his production is a different matter…was it more scheme and what they require of him or is he the looks like Tarzan plays like Jane type…his work in the run game would say no to that but we shall see.

Yelp, but McMillan has the other issue

If I hit once on roulette should I assume I will hit again on the next roll?

Miami can’t afford to miss on picks with as many holes and needs they have
By taking 'safe' picks, you tend to get average players... when they don't underperform as many do.

For your scheme to work, there has to be a guarantee of success for the 'safe' player... and there just isn't.

It depends who’s on the board. Stewart is a combine freak but this isn’t a track team, in spite of what they seem to put together sometimes.

It’s also how guys like John Ross end up going in the top ten.
