Sherman Fired

In a weird way, this may be the wake up call that Philbin needs. He can't go to sleep at night knowing his offense is in the hands of his long time friend. His loss of comfort and focus on keeping his job should lead to him be more involved in the offense, offensive line and taking more responsibility for Tannehill.

Regardless of the outcome, this dramatic milestone in his career is about the biggest wake up call he can get without being fired.

One thing is for sure, by this time next year we will know conclusively if Philbin is a head coach or not. Granted he could hire a bad OC, but that also is on him. One more year guys.

Cheer up, the draft is just months away. Can't wait for the next disappointment. :)

Reading between the lines, it's more Philbin saw that it was what's best. Also worth a look

By the way,Philbin wanted to interview McAdoo for job before 2012 but Packers denied permission. But as NFL Net says, his contract is now up.

Ding ding there's our leader for OC

Sheesh, I knew Taylor was his son-in-law, but I had no idea that, according to Armando, Turner was related to Sherman by blood. That sure makes it tough to be totally honest with someone especially if they are stinking it up.

All this talk about consistency of what?

We've been consistently crappy.

We've been consistently a non playoff team.

We've been consistently an laughing stock and embarrassment of the NFL.

We've been consistently watching FA come here and SUCK!

How many years do you want to watch the same bull****.

Philbin is no better than anything else we've had here over the past 10 years.

I bet you the Bills will leapfrog us next year.

Was with you until the last part

Interesting that they fired him rather than just accepting his resignation, which probably would have been Philbin's preference.

I can't get on board with any of this stuff unless Ireland is ****-canned, but I feel it's worth it to bring up once again that Mike Sherman does not run the Green Bay offense.

We might finally be bringing in what Joe Philbin CLAIMED he was going to bring with him. Maybe.

Scheme wise we were trying to run the Houston offense that Sherman called under Kubiak (then both Kyle Shanahan and Rick Dennison ran) but between personnel and playcalling, we didn't run it... at all

I'm not saying Sherman shouldn't be gone, but I wonder if the last two games (7 points scored) is what they are using as his out?

You can say what you want about the offense but the WHOLE team....offense, defense, special teams was completely FLAT and showed no emotion the last two weeks with everything on the line. Is that all Shermans fault?
No but the axe is gonna fall on GM and Coach next year - that's what this firing means

What are you talking about?!

I thought Philbin is perpetually asleep. It looks that way, at least.

Our offense has been a cesspool of incompetence. I say fire ALL of the related people on the Offensive staff. Obviously bad genes.....

Also, Philbin had "final say" with coaching decisions written in his contract. That means: Ross and/or Ireland gave Philbin an ultimatum. His job and Sherman's (and maybe more), or just Sherman's. Philbin bowed down.

Sherman is a good start. Looks like all news will be "trickling" our of Davie.

I agree Spiketex but maybe it came down to the money he will get from being fired as opposed to just giving his resignation.

You don't resign as a professional unless there is some sort of lawsuit, wrongdoing, etc. hanging over your head. Or, unless you are willing to fully admit you're a ****-up, which Sherman won't do because he still wants to coach in this league.

In other words, being fired looks a lot better than resigning.

Wonder if Philbin and Ross did some negotiating between themselves. Some talk of that in the twitter world going on.
