Sherman: Why is everyone so negative about this move?

I don't get it. I guess I am stupid, or just maybe looking at this wrong. I see thread after thread on here criticizing the move to fire Sherman. I see national media calling him the fall guy. Before the move everyone wanted "change". Well when your offense is ranked 27 overall, isn't that a good place to start? I understand frustration of this is the ONLY move they make. But regardless if someone else gets canned or not, firing Sherman and going a new direction on offense is the right thing to do.

Let's just hope that Ross is not done sharpening the knife and cuts Ireland too.

Blatant trolling. 100% of Dolphans everywhere wanted Sherman gone. Now they are retracting because of their Trollness. These people are constantly negative about everything and hate their lives, thus they try to spew their negativity here regardless of how bad they wanted him gone. They cant help it.

Ireland doesn't understand how to draft. You draft players at positions years before they are glaring weaknesses on the roster. You can't expect to hit home runs every time, but you can't expect to start average middle round picks either. Best player available is the best way to build a team. Stop wasting high picks on 3/4 ends and bum oline players. A lot of you on here thought I was crazy for wanting to let Hartline walk and drafting Cordarrelle Patterson. He led the league in return yards and had 9 total TDs. That's Hartlines career total. Patterson is a freak and will be a stud in the NFL!!! Hartline is what he is, average. Average players equals average records!!! You draft playmakers and supplement the roster in FA. Ireland has it backwards and he needs to go!!!

I think WVDolphan might be the only person on here upset that Sherman won't be designing and calling plays for us next season. Everybody else is upset just because they were going to be upset regardless of what happened with Sherman.

I will be upset if Ireland is retained like most of us but I really believe he is a goner when the report comes out and we are just waiting for that to announce it to save some cash. Or recoup some of the cash we gave Incognito and Martin to sit on their couches at least. Thank God we had offset language though...

I'm not negative, this was the number one thing on my list of things Miami should do immediately. I find it hard to believe that Miami could be worse off for this move, Sherman was outdated, much like Henning before him, they had great offenses at one point in time but the game has passed them by as it does all the greats.

Miami has a host of OC's to look at this off-season and I highly doubt any of them will be worse than Sherman was.

Number two on my list the offensive line coach, he should be fired next.

I agree with this. Turner and Zack the QB coach need to go as well but they will probably let them interview with the new OC and let him decide their fate.

If Ireland gets canned as well that would be ok with me. The free agent moves were good but the last draft class contributed nothing this year.

This organization will always have this stigma attached to it until Ross decides to clean house.

That has always been his biggest mistake.

From the Harbaugh fiasco, to Ireland bitching out a fan and the Bryant bull****.

What Ross needed to do in 2011 was fire everyone at the end of the season and really make this "His team". With no hold overs from Huizenga/Parcells.

Until that happens, we're be mired in this perception of ineptitude.

Sherman needed to be fired, And the Fins staff has 1 more year to win or get the same treatment altogether.

So is that more likely a recipe for success or a recipe for failure? I hope they win as well but I think this move lacks sufficient ambition and we'll be back here in a year talking about how miserable it failed.

I gotta go with the opinion that Sherman is indeed the fall guy. once it's on the field, it's Philbin's responsibility, and if he could've or should've been more proactive in the offense and getting the most out of the players he had available, then it's completely on him to do so during the season when it would've mattered, instead of some weak excuse about hindsight and improving on it in the future.

I'm not. But it seems people want everyone fired and until that happens they won't be happy.

It's nice to see the mob has set its sights on Ireland next, after getting Sherman scalp yesterday....unfortunately we are still the same team that we were against the Jets nothing has changed for the better Yet.....its easy to fire someone not so easy to find a better replacement.....

Let me try with that kind of passive aggressive attack against those I don't agree with. Some people are happy with any move because their mommies discouraged competition and told them they are winners, even when they weren't, so they live their lives happy with mediocrity and striving for nothing better. They probably continued breastfeeding until they were 6 or 7 years old and continue calling their mothers "Mommy" as adults.

How did I do?

Now, onto real talk that doesn't have sad little blanket personal attacks. I, for one, have no problem with firing Sherman. I do, however, have a problem if he's the only change. That reeks of nothing more than a scapecoat. A move to attempt to satiate the calls for change without actually changing much of anything. Ireland is by far the biggest problem with this staff, and yet here he is continuing business as usual. It's still early though, so there is till time to make a real change, and it starts with Captain IR: Jeff Ireland.

I think you answered your own question. We're happy he's gone. We just want Ireland gone too and everyone with half a brain can't believe it hasn't happen yet. The other half.......I won't even say it.

Ozzy rules!!

Best post I have read in some time and spot on

Sherman was awful, but if no one else is fired than he is just the...

Lol funny Gonzo. But way way off so don't quit your job as a high volume forum poster!

Honestly I get annoyed seeing the same regurgitated crap posted every day ad naseum even though I agree with some of it. It just gets to be more of the same old nonsense and it just is bothersome and boring to see.

Of course I can just choose to ignore like I usually do, but that time I vented, work is stressful leading 128 sailors as their LCPO can be a challenge and can wear thin on patience!

So I wrote a passive aggressive post, is it in the forum rules to not be passive aggressive? If it was then half this forum would be violators with the sarcasm spewed out on a consistent basis!

So I say something that offends sensitive posters such as yourself who decide to take the time to make up more nonsense and then you have mindless followers, because of your well deserved reputation, think your post was amazing is quite amusing to me to get this detailed and thought out nonsense that is pure crapola!

I did find it very amusing and am glad that you chose me to amuse even though your view of me couldn't be more wrong than JI bringing in talent or drafting second round picks, lol!

As far as your view I don't necessarily disagree. I'm glad to see Ireland part ways and feel a lot of this staff needs to be upgraded with experienced coaches across the board.

If players executed Sherman's offense he wouldn't of been the scapegoat, but I'm glad he's gone because his play calling was inconsistent, didn't use players strengths, didn't seem to use a strategy or set up future plays, he would stray from running when it worked, he would run against top run defenses and throw against top pass defenses, RT17's use of go go was so stupid and the overall arrogance from Sherman had to be replaced.

I'm excited for the GM search and hope its a legit search, but fear it may already have the successor in place.

I just like you and everyone else whose a legit Dolphin fan wants to see success and a bright future, I want our leadership to lead, our players to execute and our fans to celebrate, and our forum to converse. I will work on not being passive aggressive my fellow brother.

They all need to be fired .... but for right now two out of three ain't bad.
