Should we draft a Guard that can play Center?

Why not keep Pounce he's not a criminal or anything just a little stupid with decision making. I would keep him and he wouldn't demand as much as Mack. Bully gate lowers his contract demands a little i would think. If the patriots keep a guy as stupid as gronk we can keep Pounce. Neither guy is a criminal

The guy that may have the highest upside of all of em down the road on the pivot may be Wesley Johnson of Vanderbilt...maxed out body pretty much lacks strength to play tackle or guard I'd grab that very late and develop it for a few years and I may have a long term center option...his 10 yard split number was outstanding...would not draft to play tackle though...

Got a question for ya. I read in today's Herald from Jackson that Seantrel Henderson had an amazing workout for the Dolphins, and great meetings with the staff, and a private meeting with Philbin.

I have my Cane goggles on, and really like the guy, more on talent and potential than what he did on the field. Your thoughts?

I thought he was the guy who cut his workout short because he got tired lol

Yeah, that was a shocker for me. You play in Miami for years, and get dehydrated on your pro day. I was ready to write him off until I read today's article. No idea what happened.

He "felt dehydrated" to me that means your out of shape. The guys lazy if you can motivate him he's an elite talent but just a waste of talent at this point. Maybe Benton can motivate him who knows

No idea. Maybe he tried to do too much to get ready, and maybe he was just lazy. The great workout, just a couple of weeks later has to say something.

I have him on my first mock. You cannot ignore the physical skill set. The guy has the talent. The question is whether he is retarded, brain damaged, or a thug in the making...or can he be mentored.
The gamble is between his ears, not from the neck down.

I would take him after Larson in round 6.
Center for the future- check
LT for the future - check

Quoted myself...LOL

Given our recent history of drafting lineman, if we are going to draft a guard why don't we draft a guard who can actually make the starting lineup and play guard? I would like to see us make the playoffs this year, not two years from now.

I think we are in the market for all 5 OL positions really. Players with position flexibility are even more valuable. Pouncey has a lot of baggage and is 1 year away from constant negotiation destractions. I'm not ready to sink 8-9M into the C position once Pouncey's extension runs out. Barring a miraculous gelling of an OL that is stacked through this draft, we will have no real reason to overpay.

So yes, I'd be in the market for a C, but the need comes after locating a RT, LG, RG, and even another LT. So, not sure whether we get to it this draft. If so, it will either be a RG candidate this year or a late round guy who has OG potential at least.

Brenner has the movement skills but lacks the core strength to play along the OL. While it is possible to add strength, these guys have been trying to do that for years, and it isn't very likely he makes a big jump in power in one offseason.

There are a lot of C/G candidates in the rounds 5-7 range and some who may go undrafted in this deep draft to consider.

Someone mentioned Wesley Johnson as an OG. I really like him as a late round selection.

Brenner can play C, as can Garner. I would not do anything this year until we see how Brenner develops.

And if not mistaken they said Zack Martin can play any poss on the OL from what i read on him ......If he is the pick ....

I don't get why would any team want to draft a player from one position to make him learn another. If you want a center then draft a center.

Ozzy rules!!

What about Jonotthan Harrison from Florida? I thought he looked good in drills during his combine workout, and i believe i heard Mayock say Harrison played C and G. Any Gator fans that can provide some input on him?

I'd rather we draft a real center and move the lesser twin back to guard were he belongs.
