New on the hompage.

He seems to think highly of Saban.
 
Thats very interesting. I really hated JJ as the coach of the Cowboys because he was a ****y a-hole and he ended up bringing his attitude to Miami as well. The only problem was that the attitude was there but the Super Bowls were not. Why is Shula talking about this 5+ years later though?:confused:
 
I love Shula and HATE JJ for the way he bashed Shula before getting the Phins job. This brings a smile to my face :)
 
from everything i have heard he really likes sabans no nonsence approach something we have lacked for awile.jj came in and was supposed to take us to the next level but i think his ego got under peoples skin.the man knows talent we had nice drafts under jj now under wanny they sucked and thats why we are hurting now but with saban and the draft he has had the future is bright for the fins. :nesucks: :billsbite :jetssuck: :monkeyl: :jetssuck: :monkeyr: :billsbite :monkeyl:

Sort of what I was wondering, doesn't seem to classy to bash a person through the media for something many years ago. Maybe he was asked by a reporter or something.

Because the interviewer asked him about it. Don didn't just volunteer the information.

Shula really stayed away from the organization during the JJ era. Jimmy really made him feel unwelcome. That's one place where Wanny did good. He made sure Don felt comfortable and knew he was appreciated.
 
JJ is a ***, I hated him with Dallas, even though I was 5, i still hated him cause he was a Dallas coach and I was tought to hate Texas from my dad who is as big an OU fan as i am. Kudos to Shula he is so much better than JJ.
 
Even though I've hated the Fins since the mid seventies I always though Shula was a class act.

JJ is one of the biggest pieces of **** that ever coached the game.
 
People here in Philly threw batteries at him, then again they also threw snowballs at Santa Clause.

Did anyone ever meet the guy before? Was he an A** H*** to the fans too? Cause I know Marino didnt like either.
 
I don't blame Shula at all for his statements. The Miami Dolphins are a proud franchise, rich with tradition. The winningest team since the afl/nfl merger. The Dolphins were always known as a class act. Although I was happy when Johnson was hired, I can clearly see that that was a mistake. JJ kinda turned the Fins into a circus, pretty much headline news everyday nationwide for one reason or another. And it continued with JJ's protege Wanny. I just hope we can fly under the radar now and not be headline news all the time.

I met Jimmy Johnson in the Caesar's Palace sportsbook in Las Vegas and he was nothing but a class guy. Especially considering the circumstances. This was in spring '87 when he came to town for the Leonard/Hagler fight. Just a few months earlier Miami had blown the national championship game vs. Penn St. and I'm sure JJ was still crushed. But he talked to me for at least 5 minutes one-on-one, big smile and very personable. I mentioned my parents were Hurricane alums and season ticket holders and he told me to emphasize to them the '87 team would be much better than projected. Well, he got that slightly correct, if 12-0 means anything.

Only a few people recognized JJ that time, which really surprised me. Years later when he was coach at Dallas I saw him in the same casino with a big entourage and everyone turning heads in instant recognition. JJ was tanned beyond belief and moving from blackjack table to blackjack table, wearing floppy sandals.
 
dont knock JJ when he came here I was excited and was hoping to get back to superbowl form. It did not happen, but you have to admit at the time you were not bashing him. Dave took over and phuced it all up!
