Shula Speaks on Incognito/Martin

Do you agree with Don Shula here?

I am coming out of retirement because I can no longer stand the bashing of Richie Incognito, when we have a player who was involved in a murder, with the Ravens team and is a poster boy to Hall of Fame and Greatness, we are really talking about a player who clearly quit on his team, walked out, based on a baseless allegation.

We have a recent Head Coach, who was cheating and filming another team on the sidelines to get an edge on a win and nothing happens.....?

My personal opinion is, Jonathan Martin broke down mentally, because he failed at his position and he flat out quit on his team.

Release Johnathon Martin and move on.

....he did not say the gamble on Cog was a bad one.

"You win with good people on and off the field....They took a chance on a guy with a bad reputation, and it backfired on them." -Don Shula

It sure sounds like he's saying exactly that.

Sh**, why stop there? Why not make all us fans root for the stinking Jets?

If I can persuade you to root for the Jets based upon my comments, you are truly not a hard core Dolphins fan.
I didn't make those decisions. The fins are my hometown team. Not a team I picked because they were winning under Shula.

"Good people," very familiar. That was a phrase Shula used often, and with emphasis. Lately it's been lost, to the point I doubt many posters recognized it as one of Shula's favorite sayings.

Exactly. He also had Randy Crowder and Don't Reese. He gave Hollywood Henderson and Chuck Muncie second chances.

You know something? Randy is a friend of mine and a good guy. If i knew Richie and he is as good as Randy, I'd be proud to call him my friend too.

I'm starting to think "agenda" is code word for "what explains why someone's opinion isn't the same as mine."

I think it's a word that is used entirely too much in here

I may get ripped for saying this but I think it's a disgrace that Joe Philbin sits in the same office that Shula once did. I feel the same way about some of the other clowns that followed him. Can you believe Cam Cameron once occupied that office? Unreal.

I think it's a disgrace you're a broken record...

Ive already been saying the same thing since we signed Incognito.

So I agreed with Don then and I agree with him now.

Having Incognito on the team was a mistake from the day he was signed. He was never that great of a player to warrant the risk to begin with. Give Incognito credit for his play in his first year here, he played much better than I expected. But, the last couple of seasons he has been pretty much what he always was, a very average to below average player and simply not worth the headache or the risk that comes with him.

Its just poor management by Jeff Ireland.

On the money and agree with The Don.
