silence is loud

Here's my take on what the delay is about. This is not simply about firing the GM or firing the Coach. There's more going on and there are a couple different ways to go. First of all he could go the route of a Football Czar. This would be a job that goes to a guy like Carl Peterson or Tony Dungy etc. The Czar would only report to the owner. Everyone else works under him. I believe Ross is talking to people right now to see if the correct Rock Star hiring is out there and willing to take the job. I think Ross would love a scenario like this. He didn't become as rich as he is by not knowing his limitations. If the perfect hire for Czar cannot be found then Plan B goes into effect. I think Plan B is fire Ireland and bring in the GM that will come in and make the next round of decisions such as HC, OC and DC. Ross must decide is he is going to force the new GM to stay with Philbin or give the new guy the power to make that call. The top tier of GMs, imo, will want the power to bring in his own staff, including Head Coach. If Ross promotes from within by moving Brian Gaines into Irelands' job then he could insist that Philbin be retained for at least one more season. This is what I think is taking some time. These are not decisions that can happen quickly.

Bro sometimes in life the best decisions are not made right away, but after some serious thought, reflection and communication.
Normally I agree John but you have to have a contingency plan and it appears as if Ross had none. That is hard for me to believe.

Sad to say, but Ross hasn't listened to that yet. Face it, our attendance is abysmal and it hasn't changed anything yet.

I don't want Ross making football decisions solely to appease the whim of the mob.

However, the fact that he can't understand that Jeff Ireland sucks at his job is very, very disturbing. In this particular case, he really should make a decision to appease the mob -- because it would be the right one.

Why does he need ammo to explain firing a GM that hasn't been able to produce a winning team for the past 5 seasons?

He doesn't but he could use him to end the Martin/Incognito and sending him packing along with others if needed. Once they are gone, he does not have to say anything else to the media other than it was handled and is old news and the organization has moved on. He could come out and can Ireland now, and probably wanted to when the story broke. It all sounds like a PR managed situation to me.

I would pray that iam wrong. But i think ross will say nothing because we are stuck with these clowns for at least one more year.

Carl Peterson needs to **** off.

Yeah, if these "sources" saying Carl Peterson "loves" Philbin are correct, I wish Peterson would go ruin some other franchise. Maybe if Ross & Peterson are so close, Ross could ask Peterson to get a job with the Jets and ruin them. I have respect for some of the draft picks that Peterson left behind in KC, but if he thinks Philbin is worthy of "love", he is off his rocker.

I have said it before, he is waiting on the investigation to be released. After it is out, you dump them and your answer to the press is that "I have addressed the situation" and Ross moves on without having to answer anymore questions all in one neat little bundle. If he lets them go now, he has no ammo when it goes down.

What??? Speak English. Ammo? For what? His ammo is the team record the last five years. He doesn't need investigation findings to need a reason to fire them. It's his team, his playground, he calls the shots when he wants. He's meeting with professionals on football matters right now to determine which way he wants to go. And I'm fine with him getting advice from a few sources. It's better than if he wings it.

Its pretty plain English, Martin/Incognito still must be resolved, it has just been put on the backburner. It will be blown back up once the report comes out.. Even if he wants to can them now he can squash the entire thing by getting rid of them once the report is out and have instant damage control. I am not saying this is his plan for sure, but it is a much better thought post than saying he is an idiot and doesn't know what he's doing. I would like to think the man is a bit smarter than he is given credit for.

Well, I'm not one of the Ross hating club members. So we agree on that.

I agree he could can them now if he wanted, but I would like to think he is going to get something out of them even if it is just being the fall guys for the embarrassment.
