Silver: philbin and Ireland *NOT* expected to survive

Hate to say I told you so. Actually I don't, glad to hear we aren't going to let some whiny bitch set our franchise back.

Scrolling on NFL Network it says Joe and Jeff are expected to survive this situation. Best news yet!

Never mind, I read it wrong, this sucks

And the winner of the Emily Litella award goes to....

Well Bill Cowher isn't coming back anytime soon anywhere. Gruden? If he really wants to come back he'll go to whatever team answers all his demands

I have thought this also. How attractive is Miami really going to be to candidates?

Good cap shape. Good defensive talent. Decent skill position players. If you think you can work with the QB, you are all over it.

To the Grudens and Cowhers of the world, prolly not much.. but there will be good candidates that want to be an NFL head coach, its not like we have a bowl ban or scholarship losses they have the opportunity to be the savior of the franchise..

Jeff ireland is a douschebag and should have been canned when we fired sporano. I liked what I thought philbin stood for until I heard about how they brushed the incognito golf thing under the rug. I personally dont think philbin is that great of an nfl coach thus far anyway so I could care less if he survives or not.

I actually think this would make our franchise MORE appealing to start. Any coach with credibility seeking a team to mold in his own image and having the leverage of the NFL behind his words would seem to me to be a very appealing situation.

While the NFL can't say "who" we hire and fire, they can leverage the franchise into listening to their demands with certain words like "compliance". Make no mistake, while it is Ross' team if he doesn't comply with the NFL Shield, he could also have a team without a league.

The NFL is a sports juggernaut. They rule absolutely over their domain and protect the brand at all costs. Going nuclear to quash image problems is NFL 101. Billionaire or not, Ross doesn't have the resources to fight the NFL Bully.

This house will be cleaned, examples made and the NFL will be out in front on this one. Quick, decisive and nuclear.

I hear the Enola Gay warming up her engines.

EDIT: Let's not forget people, any coach taking this job has a playoff team given to him. A heavenly salary cap stocked with a young Franchise QB, Top 5 D with plenty of star power and a lot of big pieces in place. With an offseason and draft to address the OLine, I think "ripe for the picking" would best describe this opportunity.

I would be ecstatic with Ireland being fired. I would feel bad for Joe if he loses his job over this but it would be better for the Dolphins if he does. His coaching style and offensive philosophy won't win us anything. A total steam cleaning of this organization might be a good thing.

I still can't get over the NFL making such a big deal out of "mean words" between two friends when assault, murder, dog fighting, drunk driving, sexual assault, illegal firearms, rape, and so much more are prevalent every single year. Coaches don't lose their job then because its not their job to monitor their adult players behavior. The coach's job is to win, the gm to get talent. Until the end of the year we cannot evaluate those job performances. Even then, Joe gets another year or two.

They better "survive" this or any vindictive player can cause a faux commotion and get rid of a coach that moved him from LT to RT

That's interesting and funny enough, this has actually been speculated to be the reason that Schiano hasn't been fired yet in Tampa. The players are basically trying their damnedest to get them fired, and I think it was Brian Billick who said that the Bucs should be careful so as not to set a bad precedent.

Like I said, move out of miami is best move ever. If you change everything, you might as well recognize that Miami market sucks too.

cmon Ross! buy a vowel!

And Schiano deserves to be fired. 0-8 = fired. If half of the people on this board were Bucs fans instead they would be blaming him for mrsa and want him fired for that.

Wow. I have seen some epic fails before...this is right up there!

And the other half would be saying Schiano can't be held accountable for the team's performance because of the MRSA.
