Skylar Thompson. Would you be willing to go into the season with him as the backup…for the right price?

Every pre-season there are a lot of QB back up superstars. Teams get excited and fans will get excited but the moment you put them against another team's best 11 and Thompson will get destroyed. At this moment, if Tua were to go down then it will be Teddy that takes over.

I agree! He is seeing basic defensive schemes right now with backups. Start him vs Belicheck’s defense and he will get destroyed. But I am glad he is on the roster. A few years and he will be a serviceable backup.

Yes, he looks like a QB who can possibly move into the role of Tua’s backup in 2023, if he is still on the roster then.

I know.

He’s an old rookie. He probably has no business in the NFL.

But…there are…unusual outliers…who champion this kid as something special. They’re PROBABLY wrong.

But now let me frame this question differently. If Tua gets hurt, or God forbid, just collapses, are you confident Bridgewater can take the Dolphins to the playoffs and win a game? Or win 2-3 games in relief?

No? Me either.

So what if, hypothetically, the Browns need a QB? Or Stafford gets hurt in TC? Or another team just needs a veteran QB? Would you trade Bridgewater for a 2nd, and roll with Tua and Thompson?
Wow, I suggested a 4th and a player and got reamed. Funny how the crowd changes vibe I. One week. Goat, I think a 2 is too high and at this point a mid round 3rd would be fair….I had pointed out Teddy’s near .600 win %, 66% completions, and very good TD to INT ratio. I guess being a member of this here fine forum for 16 years hasn’t earned me the respect I so RICHLY deserve. Oh, the pain, the pain. 😉

I mean, to be fair, you have posted just over once a month.

Regardless, the entire exercise was based on a hypothetical. "What would make you pull the trigger?" I didn't ask "Hey, do you all think a second round pick is reasonable compensation for Bridgewater? Because that's what I think!" But man, I'm having fun with all the people who treated me like a moron for it.

Two hard and fast rules I've learned the hard way:

1) The NFL always surprises. Just when you think you've seen it all, something weird happens. I don't care if you've been studying the sport for 50 years.

2) Those who think they know more than everyone else about players, teams, compensation, salary, the salary cap, how a team will perform, etc...more often than not end up looking like morons. I'm including myself in this statement.

We had a guy here once who insisted Mason Rudolph was the best QB in the 2018 draft class, and chided anyone who disagreed with him.

Nobody...absolutely NOBODY is smart enough to have their opinion treated as fact.

Sam Darnold just got hurt. The panthers need a back up for Baker Mayfield

Goat, heavy dose of tongue In Cheek regarding my longevity on this here fine forum. Those who post incessantly have no more prescience than those who post prudently. Sorry, but I have no tolerance for anyone (another poster) who accuses me of not being pro Dolphin because I criticize a player or FO. They are the same social misfits who call a player garbage or trash…or begin their posting with “dude.”

I know. I caught it; was more or less just playing along.
