Davis to me is interesting bc hes a Guard and can even play RT. just not sure how good he is. He's a mammoth at 6'6 345 lbs. at 32 and is said to be in the best shape of his life. He might have some good years left.

Gurode was voted as the 57th best player in 2011 by NFL Network and word is he will get cut (or pay cut which he has said he will not agree to).. He seems like the best option of this group but will he move to guard? He's also 32 and could be more than just a stopgap.

O'hara seems similar to Gurode but possibly a cheaper alternative. Would he be willing to play guard? He's also slightly "light" at 300 lbs. IMO, he has the body type of a center. He's older at 34 and would strictly be a stopgap.

Waters is someone that's been consistent for years but it's been very quiet on his end. Possibly retirement?
He graded out as the 12th best guard in 2011. He's also 34 and would be a stopgap but he is not injury prone which is a huge plus.

Max Starks was said to be overweight and out of shape by the Steelers on August 2nd. No thanks.

Who to take?..

I like Waters and Gurode

Hopefully we can make a trade or sign someone decent who gets cut. None of these guys are the answer IMO.

Curious as to why you say none of these guys are the answer. Davis is known as a mauler, Ohara helped anchor one of the best olines in football last year, Gurode is a top 5 center, and waters is a perennial pro bowler

Pouncey is NOT going to be moved to G, as much sense as that may make to us. This regime follows a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy very strictly and Pouncey is doing very well at C.

IMO this means they are going to try to get O'Hara or Gurode to play G (not likely). Davis seems like a flexible option and the one I think we'll end up with.

I would get Gurode and go with the following:

LT Long
LG Pouncey
C Gurode
RG Incognito
RT Murtha or Garner

There's a reason they are all available now. They are either old or coming off injuries. With no preseason action do you guys really think they will be ready to make an impact opening game?

These guys are veterans. They don't need "preseason action."

LT: Long LG: Incognito C: Gurode RG: Pouncey RT: Carey

That's about the best we're gonna do for this season.

Unfortunately you can't even count on Ireland to make a move at all.

We'll probably end up starting the season with

LT: Long LG: Incognito C: Pouney RG: Carey RT: Colombo.
Pro Bowl/Average/OOP-rookie/OOP-sucks/Sucks

OOP = out of position.
