Small cornerbacks

How many times was that an issue? How many times is Grimes being dragged? Today Grimes kept FALLING. Today Finnegan had poor tackling form or bad positioning. They never got beaten by size specifically, and definitely NOT consistently enough where anyone should mention that their small size has been a issue for them.

Agreed. In the past Grimes has shown he can match up vs size, speed, whatever, and do well. Yesterday he just could keep his footing... Finnegan let a bit get by him, not due to just feet but it wasn't a size mismatch either, he just didn't cover well.

I'm ready to see more of Jamar, but we definitely need a high draft pick going to CB, and probably S as well. A young veteran would be nice to help bolster the cb's

So I guess you were on the don't sign Grimes to a long term contract band wagon then......

I was on that bandwagon. I was hoping for someone to post the most overrated/underrated thread again prior to the season so I could name Grimes and Fields as most overrated and Sturgis as most underrated. I was having a bit of trouble with the second guy on the most underrated list.

Since nobody posted that thread I did emphasize that Grimes was the most overrated player on the team and that he wouldn't be held in the same regard by Dolphins fans ending the season as entering it.

Grimes picks on vulnerable quarterbacks. That's why I posted prior to the Oakland game that I wouldn't be surprised if he picks off a rookie like Carr. Last season Grimes inherited many interceptions and got away with numerous situations in which he blew the coverage but the ball didn't arrive. I attended only the Cincinnati game. Patterson play to play was much more impressive than Grimes. Of course, that ended up being Patterson's best game in a Dolphin uniform. But he reminded me of old time Dolphin corners who displayed intensity throughout. Grimes took plays off and didn't hustle. Even on that long touchdown play by Bernard somehow Grimes was given credit for chasing the play but in the stadium I saw him hesitate and not care until he realized it was going to break longer than he expected, so be better give a second attempt, even if pathetic and ending in another flailing missed tackle.

There wasn't enough foundation to offer Grimes that contract. He's older and small and too many basic weaknesses like tackling. One year removed from another team letting him leave and all of a sudden we're desperate to pretend he's a great player. It wasn't as dreadful as the Reshad Jones error but in that neighborhood.

Hmm... I think you're exaggerating just a bit. He was solid for us last season and had a lot shutdown corner type performances last season.
