I understand and agree 100%. I just feel the NFL is putting PED's and weed as being more important than domestic abuse. Something just doesn't seem right about that.
So how is this fair?

Hitting a woman is bad but both were charged with assault at one point. where should we draw line. MOst domestic cases result in jack crap as far as suspensions.
Do we judge it by what the law does or do we just decide anyone accused of dometic violence gets suspended no matter what the law finds.
Do you think Misi should have been suspended for his arrest the previous year when he broke into a private dwelling and assaulted a person?
just wondering where the line is drawn or is it only for hitting a woman. What if a woman attacks a man with a knife as supposedly Marhsall was, would he have been wrong if he knocked her out.
What if Ray Rice's wife just kept hitting him, does he just do nothing , what if he restrains her and she kicks him in balls and continues. I think the NFL should base much of what is done based on what the court system does.
I think we really need to separate criminal issues with NFL issues. At least in this case. He was on tape knocking her out. The pretrial program is important in the criminal case (obviously), however it shouldn't even matter for the NFL punishment. Fact is he did it. Its not like someone committed "alleged acts" and later found out they weren't true.

PEDS is much more important to the actual NFL than domestic violence charges. Much like how Pete Rose being banned for betting on baseball is treated so serious.

So he should be punished because we the public saw it on video. So any player that is charged with domestic violence and enters a pretrial program should be suspended .
So no other players being suspended for domestic violenc shouldn't be a factor in his suspension. The NFL did act , why is 2 game suspension deemed not acting hard enough.
The NFL is not hard enough on PEDS if u ask me. Its basically a slap on the wrist for trying to cheat the game

So because we have video of it nothing else matters. As long as a player is charged and there is no video he should get less.
What players do u remember getting suspensions for domestic violence, quite few. Domestic violence is no more of an issue in the NFL than any other job.

Not to stray too far off course, but if we're going to crack down on domestic violence there needs to be better guidelines. I think a woman slapping her husband needs to be taken just as serious as a man slapping his wife. I was in Denver when hall of fame goalie Patrick Roy was charged with domestic violence for punching a hole in the bedroom door of his house while arguing with his wife. Never laid a hand on her, but since it scared her it was considered an assault. For Roy and Rice to be put in the same domestic violence boat seems wrong to me.
The NFL may as well dispense with the "for show" Breast Cancer Awareness pink ribbons and adornments months cuz domestic violence has proven just as deadly with probably a higher recidivism rate, no matter the "re-education" than the recurrence of cancer.
But then again, who ever said the league who welcomed Ray Lewis and might just welcome Josh Brent back, was anything other than inconsistently hypocritical. Let's just see what a true serial miscreant like Aldon Smith ends up with.

The great majority of domestic violence cases are he said/she said cases because there are no witnesses. I know this first hand. The Rice case is a different animal

I've been thinking about this a lot since it was revealed that Jones & Jordan would be suspended. In my opinion, there is no reason at all to get popped for PEDs unless you are trying to cheat. You know as a player that they are checking for the stuff. You also know that there are resources available to help determine whether or not a particular supplement would be acceptable under league rules. Why would you even put something in your body and take the risk without knowing in advance? That is, unless you're cheating....

Don't agree with the premise that there should be blanket punishments for every "crime." If anything, the PED suspensions obviously don't go far enough so they need to up the ante there to nip that in the bud. PED abuse is a growing snowball and its easy to predict how its on a path to becoming a HUGE problem for the NFL, especially if it ever comes out that some coaches/teams promoted their use. If that happens the lawsuit damages awarded will make the concussion lawsuit results look like a drop in the bucket.
