So......how was Hard Knocks??

Chad Johnson is hysterical. He really has grown on me. Pretty upset with Vontae. We may never see his potential. Would have liked to see a little more of Nanee. He's been tearing it up in camp and is considered our best and most consistent receiver right now. Didn't even mention him. Also, Garrard had come across as having a very dry personality, but I saw a different side of him during the show. Can't wait til next week!

Great show in my opinion. Some interesting things I got from this episode:

1. Dawn Aponte is a shrewd negotiator and obviously stood her ground in the Tannehill talks. They showed Philbin talking on the phone with Aponte and she said that she told Tannehill that if he didn't sign then he wouldn't be a Dolphin and would have to renter the draft next year. Obviously this just all part of back and forth mind tricks by the people involved and I am sure this goes on in every city. If you could pick one villain from tonight's episode, I would say you go with Aponte.

2. Ireland isn't built for TV, but overall came across decent in this episode. He was not the nasty incompetent person people paint him as. I thought he handled the release of Derek Dennis pretty good. He was also very vocal about how frustrated he was that Tannehill wasn't in camp. Said something along the lines of "I just want him here."

3. Les Brown is even a bigger longshot than I originally thought. Great work ethic, but he is really struggling.

4. John Jerry said to the one coach at the end of the episode that he was in the 360s.

5. The coaches are not happy the Vontae. Philbin complained that he had to use the bathroom during the 75 minute afternoon walk through. They are really encouraging him and keep telling him can be great if he just puts more into it.

6. The coaches and players are impressed with Tannehill. Garrard even called him "The people's choice".

7. Joe Philbin continues to impress me. He seems like a great guy, but we got to see tonight that he is in complete control and not afraid to yell and take charge. After Chad Johnson's press conference where he dropped 7 f-bombs, Philbin pulled him aside and politely told him how unacceptable his actions were. He probably had the best line of the episode after he went into the quarterbacks meeting to tell them the QB rankings on the depth chart. Then he finished by talking about how great the training camp schedule was with the day off. He stood up from the table, walked to the door and said he needed to leave to end on a high note like George Costanza.

NFL films is a class act. HBO handled this beautifully. The quarterback search in addition to the "refocus" on building a winning team are the primary focal points. Well done. I look forward to the sections on the new offensive line coach. Not discouraged about the overall future or direction of the team under Joe. Joe has my support.

Shows me they actually really want him to step it up. Maybe this national embarrassment will wake his ass up

Dawn Aponte speaking to Philbin on the phone, threatening Tannehill if he doesn't sign he's going back in the draft just ridiculous by her, Vontae got destroyed now we know why Marshall is starting over him needs to pick it up , Philbin looks the part of a head coach. Great first episode!

I liked how Philbin spoke. I did though find Jake Long's 20 second cussing tirade to be the greatest part of the episode. I dug his fire he had about the OL underperforming.

What I love is a coach is finally using conditioning in Miami to our advantage something lost since shula. Vonte will be fine. I love the show and there is something that makes me feel special about this team, and it has been missing since Marino. I loved how coach handled Chad ,telling him how he felt w/o making Chad feel uncomfortable. Put Chad in position to be a leader. Want more defense in the nest exipode

Actually I think the reason he looks like he is having a great camp, is because he is in fact having a great camp.

I did not mean to imply that he wasn't having a great camp. I certainly hope he is. He definitely is the future. I actually got excited when he rolled out, out ran the rusher, and through a TD in the scrimmage. Awesome!!!!

There was some good and some bad. Pouncey said something kinda disturbing and there was a few things about Philbin that brought up some red flags, but I did love the fact that after the conversation Philbin had with Chad, an assistant asked Philbin if Chad didn't conform could it affect his status with the team and Philbin said "yeah it could, it absolutely could". Shows good leadership, and that he won't be ran over.

The show left me really rooting for Moore to win the starting qb job. Little things matter, like when DG fumbled a shotgun snap that was right to him and he tried to blame it on Pouncey. Players see things like that, and it really makes a difference. I will say that Pouncey has a problem getting the ball back consistantly in the same spot. I spoke about this some last year, but it really makes the QB have to concentrate on the ball rather than the defense, it is something that the center HAS to get more consistant at, IMO.

All in all it was a great show and it made me want to watch about another 3 or 4 hours of it. It really gave you a feel of what was going on behind the scenes. Kinda made ya understand why Vontae is no longer starting. Can't wait til next week.

No doubt in my mind that if Brown didn't have his speed he wouldn't be around. Because of that speed, they may put him on a practice squad so he can build his strength. Joe is the man. Simply put there may be a chance for football sanity. Chad has got to reel it in just a bit. Do that and catch most of the passes your way and you will fit in. And agreed, Ireland didn't come across like a incompetent person at all. Tough start for poor Dennis though. He was not a good fit for this blocking scheme. Might fit in better with the Pats.

Wouldn't exactly call it a cussing tirade. Some people just cuss when theyre around friends.
