So......how was Hard Knocks??

I still haven't watched but I'm hearing bad things about Philbin from non phin fans.

The Buffalo forum I read was to funny they are smack talking the hell out of how its bs that the Dolphins are the team on Hard Knocks and how much better they drafted and what a joke Philbin is for a coach. I kindly reminded them they did lose 2 times last season to the bottom dwellers.

What you are hearing is not accurate IMO. After he was hired, the more I heard him speak and read how he was doing things, the more impressed I became. Last nights show just confirmed my thoughts on him and then some. I was very impressed with him. He is very smart, very well organized, and knows how to say what he has to say without going all Rex Ryan. Hard not to really like the guy. So glad we got him instead of Jeff Fisher.

Those jills fans are just talking smack.

Philbin was probably the most impressive thing about the dolphins. The coaching staff looked very good IMHO.

HBO do a great job with their sports series. Those Fighting promos are excellent. Ireland might have come off in a negative light I thought, but everyone else but Vontae looked good.

They even made the owner look good. :d-day:

I thought Ireland looked pretty good, especially when Tannehill was still holding out and it was clearly eating at Ireland. And I'm not sure they will, but if they get into Ireland's family life, you'll find him to be an even more likeable guy.

He's definitely not as "entertaining" as Rex Ryan and sometimes he stumbles around when he talks, but he certainly looks like he understands that game far better than most, especially most of the chumps we've had here since Shula. Personally, I don't give two ****s about how well-spoken he is. I only care about whether or not he can coach, and there were no signs of any kind that he can't.

I watched the show last night and thought it was pretty good. I would have liked a lot more football and a lot less drama but I guess that is the nature of the show. Nevertheless, I came away very impressed with Philbin and the way he leads. He is the unquestioned boss but has a relationship with everyone around him and treats them like they matter...that builds excellent teams in any business. I was also amazed at what a train wreck Vontae was, lazy and unfocused. I can see why he was in such awful shape last year the first half of the season with the Meatball at the healm. He better get his butt in gear or he will be looking for a job soon. Chad was amusing but did seem to back it up on the field. I think Philbin wants him to be himself but expects him to be a gentleman and positive representative for the Dolphins...Kudos to the coach! All in all, I have a lot more confidence in this coaching staff and team than I have had since Shula left and this look behind the scenes did nothing to change that. I finally feel like we are on the right track toward long-term protracted success!

A couple of my coworkers are just nfl fans, as hard to believe as that may be in the center of whodat nation. I was told that Joe looked a little soft in demeanor and tone. Not sure what that means.

I think I understand where they are coming from,

but the same could be said about Bill Walsh (rip) or Billichik or Tom Landry or Chuck Noll. The best coaches don't always have fiery demeanors.

Philbin is more of a Tony Dungy type. He isn't a loud mouth cursing clown, so if people were expecting that than they would be disappointed.

Didn't we have a coach a while back who was the consumate professional, quiet but very strong in demeanor, and who demanded the very best from his players and organization? Yeah, he might have won some games in Miami, too.

Can't say that I am too disappointed that we hired someone more like Shula and less like Rex. I would rather have someone who is a soft-spoken leader and whose behavior is an example for his players than a loud-mouthed trash heap of filth!

There are many ways to get your point across. From what I saw, Coach Philbin's is very effective. I liked the way he told Chad, "That's just the way it's gonna be". Unlike Marvin Lewis, I think he let him know who's the boss.

Made me feel worse about the team, if that is possible. Apparently Tannehill is our third string QB...I never thought that was a great #1 pick....

Everyone knew from the beginning that the plan was not to start him because of his experience and let him get some time sitting behind a vet. Aaron Rodgers must suck because he did not start for a couple of years.

Anybody else get the feeling Philibin has a labratory in his house and is a mad scientist?
