So many Dolfans have so little faith.

Anything is possible. But at the same time realistic expectations should be held. Every Dolphin here will be rooting for a Super Bowl run but at the same time most of us just want to see improvement. A modern offense and an unpredictable defense will be enough to keep me excited this year. I do have expectations for the Saban era, but they are predicated on a three year time horizon. These may change due to injuries or late free agent pickups but here they are:

Year One - expectation: 8-8 - if achieved I think Saban is the real deal and I will expect us to make the playoffs the following year

optimistic expectation 10-6 - Predicated on the possibility that Travis Daniels, A.J. Feeley, Channing Crowder, Matt Roth and Hudson Houck all exceed expectations and somehow are defensive tackle position doesn't become a liability

bottom line expectation 6- 10. The offensive talent is better and therefore there should be some improvement. We are still in need of a personnell overhaul to bring about a Saban type of team.

worst case expectation 4-12 - I will allow Saban one y6ear to get used to being a head coach in the NFL and get the types of players he needs to run his schemes. Anything below 4-12 will cause me to question whether Saban is the answer and would have me worried that he is the next Spurrier

Year two expectations - 3 game improvement over year one

Year three expectation - 3 game improvement over year two and at minimum reaching the AFC Championship round

Those are my expectations for the new era. Hopefully by year three or four we will be adding rings to our players fingers

I'm definately a realist but at the same time I do believe we have the guys "on paper" to get us a 10 win season...possibly playoffs.

On paper, we should have won the SuperBowl in '95. Instead, it was a disaster and led to the "retirement" of one of the best coaches in the history of the league.

Paper means nothing.

Before I totally follow my first and only prediction, I'll wait to see one ps game. That'll let me know if they are learning the new system. I do have concerns about certain positions on D..but if the players can overcome, then I see playing dolphin football in the traditional sense. How far we go, who knows..but it should be an exciting season either way..

The reason why is because this season could go completely one way... or completely the other way... or somewhere in between... think about it...

Ronnie could be the Rookie of the Year
Ricky could be like he was before
Our receivers could do awesome
Our line could be great
Our tightend could breakout
Feeley could perform great
Our D could lead the league in sacks
Our secondary could get a good amount of ints with the confusion

OR...
Ronnie could bust
Ricky could suck
Boston could blow out his knee
Chambers could not live up to his potential
Our line could still suck
Feeley could be just as bad as last year
Our run D could rank in the bottom of the NFL due to not haveing adaquete run stuffers b/c Chester and Traylor could just be too old
Our secondary could get burnt like my moms cookin because they are learning the new system

There is endless potential for our team... but thats all it is right now... POTENTIAL. We need to see what happens and see if they live up to it before we start talkin about playoffs and superbowls... I am optomistic and hope for the best... but I honestly believe that it isnt just all gunna magicly come together right in the beginning of the season. I see us starting slow while everyone adjusts and then finishing strong... 7-9 to 9-7 area...
