So Much More Than TANNEHILL !

Tannehill has not played great the last game or two but there is so much more than his performance that has led to the losses.

I don't care who they start because I don't think it makes much difference in the long run, but Tannehill is PART of the problem so if they decide to bench him, I'll take no issue with it. But here you say, "Tannehill has not played great the last game or two..." No, he hasn't been great. He hasn't been good. In fact, he's been sub-par. I'm not sure why anyone would argue to keep sub-par players on the field rather than give other players an opportunity. You know what happens when a team fields too many sub-par players in key positions? The team plays sub-par.

imo, the best game tannehill has played as a fin was vs the cardinals in week 4.

yes he had 2 turnovers i believe, including getting stripped sacked in ot to lose the game, but even with the 2 turnovers, he was awesome that game imo, and when u take into account that it was only his 4th start, and he did lack weapons that year, it was a good game. also, we should have won that game, our defense totally choked allowing the cards to convert a 4th and 10 which would have ended it if we had stopped them.

other than that game, every game has been a mixed bag or just flat out bad.

Nope, that game was vintage Tannehill. Great chance to win a game that never should have been lost but the offense leaves the other team a chance to get back in and when the defense (predictably) blows it, Tannehill has one of his patented strip sacks so seal the loss. There is ALWAYS something that prevents this guy from winning a fair amount of games he should win.

I would disagree that he is not "NFL caliber" as he is coming off a top ten year and the best year a Miami QB had since Marino. He has all the physical skills that the scouts love, but it's his "between the ears" issues that are the most troubling for me. It's not that he's unintelligent--I think he blew away the Wonderlic--it's his overall decision making that is very concerning. There were times in the KC game where he should have taken off and run for an easy first down, (he's supposed to be great at that) but instead he froze and either threw into double coverage or out of bounds. There were times when he held on to the ball too long and took a sack instead of throwing it away, or was hesitant to make the quick throw into a tight window then throws it too late.

He is not a confident QB right now. Just watch some of the guys in the league who are considered big time and the common thread among them is confidence. He just doesn't have it right now. I think he had it at one time, but all the staff and system changes he's gone through, plus the o-line issues since he's been drafted have reduced him to a tentative blob of jello. I hope he can fight through it, but the important vote of confidence he didn't receive from his coach today certainly cannot help.

I'm watching that POC Geno Smith throw another INT and it's obvious Tannehill is a much much better QB, but he just isn't showing it. I'm in the kid's corner but it might actually be a good thing to yank him for Matt Moore if he continues to struggle. I'd like to see how hard he would compete to get his job back. Btw Matt Moore is a very good, CONFIDENT QB and he just might not give the spot back so easily. I think if the move is made the team will rally behind him. Either way I think Joe is still "dead man walking."

At this point in their careers, I wouldn't say it's OBVIOUS that RT is better then Geno, Geno is improving while RT is regressing, as far as confidence goes, tons of TALENTED QB's have come and gone quickly in the NFL either because their confidence was dashed (i.e. David Carr) or because they were BOOK smart but not FOOTBALL smart (i.e. Blaine Gabbert), it just so happens that RT fits into both those brackets of failure.

And even if RT somehow salvages his NFL career at QB or WR, he'll never be a top guy in his position, he's a backup caliber player, has no passion for the game (especially professional level, I figured that out on hard knocks) and lacks the famous 'it' factor that RT supporters don't understand(Skill/Smarts/Intangibles/Ability to lead)...He has 1 of 4 (Skill, but so did a lot of guys that didn't succeed at NFL level, i.e. Jamarcus Russell)

Everybody here is correct. Ryan Tannehill is garbage. Tannehill wouldn't be able to win games with any other team in the NFL (if you can't win in Miami then your career is done.) My money says if they bench Tannehill for Moore that Moore takes us all the way. Philbin will get the praise he deserves and everything will be right in Miami.

And we will never know until we make this move. Face it, people...it's not like we are benching Marino, P. Manning, Elway, etc. The kid is raw, he is athletic, and he has some skills...but he ain't there yet. Do you really think the act of benching him and CHALLENGING him to improve is going to put him in the fetal position? If so, then he isn't for us anyway. I'm really sorry we got rid of Beck, and Henne, too.....look how many playoff games we could have won if we hadn't done that. What do they have now...2 rings each??

I read this 3 times and I still have no clue what you're trying to say. Is this sarcasm or stupidity?

There is a reason Matt Moore is the back up qb and not a starter for 31 other teams. Bench Brees, Kaepernick and Rodgers they are all 1-2 as well.

The reason Matt Moore is on the bench is because we are playing our 1rst rounder to see if he is the future, if we consider the preseason there would be no argument as Moore was way better tan Tannehill.
You should remember Warner was a backup, Rivers was a backup, and some very good QB were backups too. Brees, Kaepernik and Rodgers did not lost against an injury plagued team (KC) and a team with no real QB (Bills), and they have previusly demonstrated they have the tools needed on the NFL, Tannehill has not!!!

I believe a change is needed, but I know Philbin does not have the balls required to turn things around! So the probable outcome will be that after 8 games, a lossing record and lots of bad plays by Tannehill we will finally bench him and that would be too late.

Against the Chiefs the defense got a turnover in the redzone, the defense got two points off a safety and special teams got us 3 of our points. Tannehill led our offense and was legitimately responsible for only 3 of our 15 points against a putrid KC defense. Do you understand how frustrating that must be for the rest of the team? I don't know about you, but every time I see Tannehill out there floundering around I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. And the rest of the team probably feels the same way!

So to try to deflect from what is obviously terrible QB play by saying but this and that sucks too would be akin to complaining about your radio not working in your car when the engine doesn't even start. Especially when our system is predicated on one thing: getting efficient QB play. If we don't get efficient QB play the entire system grinds to a halt.
