So was this Jeff Irelands best draft?

Best draft Ireland has had? No doubt in my mind. Grade Him.

Picks in rounds 2-7 I thought all had really good value but in the end the success of this draft will hinge on the first pick. ask again in 2 years lol.

Yes. I think this is Irelands best draft which I call the playmaker draft. I think its a B+ and its an A if Tannehill starts this year.
QB = Upgrade
RT = Upgrade
DE = Upgrade on other side of Wake. We had no one but Odrick who 3-4 DE.
TE = Upgrade. Now we have a first down weapon and TD weapon in Red zone with speed. Finly type required for WCO. I think Jef took him here because the WR would have been too much of a reach compared to Egnew value to team.
RB = Steal. upgrades the running game as we now have multiple backs that can play and two that can take it to the house. Also dont feel to bad about not getting a top end WR cause Bush can split out as a WR and be one of the top end guys while Miller is in the game.
LB = improves our pass rush as a must.
WRs = Did not meet our goals but added 2 WRs with good hands that can score in the red zone. Staff will need to evaluate where we are with the current group in our system before selecting a WR next year. I think Jeff was trying to trade up for R. Randle but could not get him.
DT = Good depth that we need to replace Langford.

The only question mark I would have on strategy is not getting the pass rusher in the second round ala Curry. Even tho Martin is great value I thought there were lots of OTs that could be drafted in third round. The plus is Martin can play LT.

Totally agree

The Tannehill pick is really on Mike Sherman, IMO. If he fails then Sherman should never work in football again. If it works though, and Tanne becomes a + NFL starting QB, then this was a fantastic draft and Mike Sherman is vindicated. Martin has to pan out too though as far as Ireland is concerned. If you skip over your most pressing need and make a 'talent' pick, then that guy really needs to show that talent.

All I can say about this draft is that I can't complain, which if you know me then you know it's saying a lot. It would be cool to see Ireland improve his stock and go back into esteemed status in the league. It's not his fault Dez Bryant's mother was a whore.

You also have to consider all of the college hires to our staff as helping in the process

You need to address Ms. Bryant properly,she is a crxck whore

When they do something on the field we can talk. It is really come to the point of put up or shut up. Every year people give us B's and C's and we have nothing to show for it.

So what do you guys think? I think it was a solid draft and I'm the biggest Ireland critic. I would give us a solid B+. I would have liked to see us make a couple different moves like take vinny curry or ruben randle, and I still don't really understand the Kaddu pick, he did have 6 sacks last season so maybe Ireland sees and emerging passrusher in him? But overall it was a solid draft. We got our QB of the future, a starting RT in Martin, a nice passrusher in Vernon, seemthreat TE in Egnew, speed RB in Miller, and two solid WR's. So overall I think it was a very solid draft.

true and if theres noway to resign Jake Long to a long term deal , just say he wants us to break the bank to sign him then Martin WAS A TRUE Left Tackel then we can let Martin play as our LT and maybe move John Jerry over to RT he seems to be ready to take over the spot full time so if we need Martin can play either LT ,or RT.

the fins could have traded down and still came away with tannehill and more picks. but i guess given the way this offseason went for the fins (whiffing on every qb they considered) they had to do something. i for one am glad it went this way for you guys. the fins will continue to be a non-factor in this division for a while.

LETS PUT IT THIS WAY BRO , i dont know if tanny will pan out but i will bet you this much , that tanny will be a better QB than cheesey ever will be and our nonfactor will be alot better than your nonfactor belive dat.

Absolutely his best draft.
I must admit, I was really down on what was going on this offseason and had had enough of Ireland. How quickly things change. Not that my opnion really matters, but as a Dolphins fan I feel way more positive about the direction this franchise is heading in after this draft, for a couple reasons:
1. You can see that this draft was very well thought out, we addressed several of our needs
2. I could not be any happier to see that the team is focused on developing a pipeline with the University of Miami. For so many years UM's players end up on other teams and thrive there. All of the papers in the last couple days have discussed Ireland and Golden respecting each other and being intent to establish a "homefield advantage" for the Dolphins in scouting their players. I don't know why it has taken this long, and this might be be a move intended inadvertently to win some fans over, but either way, it works. Really happy to have Vernon and Miller, who will without a doubt be favorites if they perform. I told my buddy (who is a Pats fan) that I thought NE would end up getting Miller, and that Miller had top -10 back talent. I know we didn't need a RB, but thrilled that we got him. ANyway I am rambling now, but bottom-line, glad to be a Fins fan right now.

Yup, I think it is. Can't really do much complaining about any of the picks.

How can the same people who are yelling at members for criticizing this draft, telling them to see the players in action be the same people claiming this is the best draft ever? Little hypocritical isn't it? Personally I am in wait and see mode, little annoyed that year after year we waste several picks and fa signings on the oline and dline because they missed on so many, but none the less wait and see mode. Although I will say that like 08 this draft and its success hinges on the QB.

I think this draft was more than just solid. Ireland had his best draft yet. This guy blocked out all the critics and took care of business. I was one of the many that lost face in Ireland. However he put together a Top Ten draft this year IMO. Go Phins!

Too early to tell, of course, but to participate I gave it a C since C+ was not available.

Would have reached B range if the WR was a round 3 guy and the TE was a round 6 guy. Thought the priorities were wrong....

Solid draft. I haven't been this excited for a Dolphins upcoming season since the Marino days.
