Ted I will agree with that statement as long as they get credit when they make good moves. Dansby and Marshall were good moves as far as Ireland is concerned. Thats how I see it and almost all the fans saw it last year. Now Dansby is hurt and Marshall drops passes which tarnishes those moves a bit but Ireland still got the players. Same thing can be said for players like Carpenter, Bess, Wake, Starks, Davis, Smith, Odrick, Fields, Langford, Pouncey and Jake Long. These guys are core players and would/could be studs when coached properly. Players like Clyde Gates, Daniel Thomas, Brian Hartline, Clemons, Misi, Fasano and Incognito are decent role players. Everyone knows that this team is under perfroming and that falls on the coach and some extent the quarterback. Teams like the Jets are overperforming which credit goes to the coach IMO. Henne can be improved on but he is still servicable enought to put a winning product on the field and he could still possibly develop some.
A front office doesn't get credit for UDFA's that CHOOSE which team they want to go to. Players like Davone Bess, Carpenter, Wake, etc. CHOSE to come to Miami because that's the weakest roster that gives them a chance at sticking. Nor did this front office draft Fields...
Dansby was a no brainer. Fans talked all offseason regarding the fact that Miami had two choices to upgrade the ILB position, which was either to sign Dansby in free agency, or draft Rolando McClain. They don't get credit for obvious moves that even the fanbase already had figured out...
Jake Long was the wrong pick...period. It should've been Matt Ryan.
Davis should've been Clay Matthews, Sean Smith was a good pick (who I also had Miami taking)
Langford was a good pick (who I already had Miami taking), Starks was a good signing, Odrick was a good pick (who I also had Miami taking).
Chris Clemons is irrelevant, there's nothing 'good' about Incognito...
I already had Clyde Gates as a potential steal in the draft, I don't see the genius here.. Daniel Thomas was a back that I liked in the draft, there are numerous threads in the draft forum about this guy, and the improvements that he needs to make in his game to be a NFL back. He has to stop fumbling... period.
I don't agree with taking Mike Pouncey at #15, passing up Ingram, missing on Mallett, and trading up for Thomas.
The mistakes that they've made, and the players that's it's cost Miami, such as Earl Thomas, Dez Bryant, Matt Ryan, Mark Ingram, Ryan Mallett, etc... are going to be more costly than anything they've brought in.
I wanted Peyton Hillis, the brainiacs keep passing him up for Lex Hilliard and Jalen Parmale..
Their free agency and roster moves are brutal 80% of the time, and it's going to cost them their jobs in the end.
The bottom line is, when they actually make what looks like a good move to ME, I'll point it out. I don't slobber over all these overrated/mediocre players that can't win like you do. It's not going to happen.
