Sobering Game Tape on Tannehill

How many games did Tannehill start at QB in college? What a Sophomore vs what a Sophomore?

Follow the whole conversation.

BTW, when Luck hit 19 games he was what 19 or 20? Where as Tannehill was a SR and had played D1 ball for 4 full seasons. And according to most here...sat in on QB meetings all that time, and it mattered. Or now, doesn't matter. I don't know what matters anymore. To many Tannehill fan boys here to keep up w/ all the excuses.

I have been reading it. You are arguing just for the sake of arguing so why can't I ;)

Only time will tell who he is and what he has. I'm glad we finally took a shot at a QB in the first round. As long as we don't hit the panic button and throw him to the dogs, we have a good chance at a very good QB in the making. Just imagine if he turns out better than Luck or RGIII. I know I may get grilled for that, but what you did in college means nothing when you get to the NFL. What I do know about Tannehill is, is that he is a very smart guy who loves football and ready to learn. Hopefully he picks it up and adjusts to the speed of the game and his number will get called when he is ready.

Actually my core arguments are centered around his SR year and his mistakes. Alot of which are glossed over by many here. Blaming someone else for his mistakes, in certain game situations. So no i'm not arguing for the sake of it.

I think these assessments of Tannehill are fair, and I think even the kid himself will think so. But he has the tools to be everything Miami needs. He just requires more experience and working on these aspects. I think mental toughness will be a big part of it. Not sure if he has the onions and mental toughness to be a commanding, get-it-done, winning quarterback. He's a projection. FWIW, I am happy Miami got him. He has the rare tools to do it all IF he can put it together.

Same people made the same excuses for Chad Henne!

Lets clear up a few issues shall we?

1. Philbin did not develop Rodgers or Flynn! He worked with the oline in Greenbay.

2. Unless the quick slant bounces off the WRs chest or is tipped it is most certainly the QBs fault because he missed a presnap read.

3. There is cause for concern when I see Tannehill's 3 worst games of his senior year were against the toughest teams on his schedule.

I said predraft Tannehill at 8 is a reach. Now he is a Dolphin and we hope he develops or it is another 5yr set back. I would start him from day 1 the kid is the future and knowledgeable fans know this is a 6 win football team. Let him develop during the rebuild with no pressure. Backups get limited reps I'm practice and there is no substitution for live fire. Do e really care if Moore or Gerrard wins 6 maybe 8 games.

Another lead...disappearing in the 2nd half. The fact he did it again, is the problem. But hey, you assume I didn't watch the game. You assume alot of things, but it is what it is. That was a game he needed to win, if not for himself but for his school. And he failed.

You mean kinda like Peyton needed to win vs FL every year he was there and couldn't do it once, or like Luck really needed to win vs OKST with a possible championship game on the line and looked like a deer in the headlights??

Luck was 27 of 31 for 347 yds 2td 1int hardly a deer in the head lights.

2 of his picks in this game occurred when the WR fell down running his route, another scoring opportunity was eliminated when the WR fumbled after a 50 yard gain.

Look at the accuracy of his throws, very impressive. Look at the plays he makes with his feet, in and out of the pocket.

If this tape is being posted with the intent to make Tannehill look bad, we just drafted a great QB.

x2 -- he does things here that Henne never did and never will. Great quote EireTiger and I agree.

Every great QB has terrible games/moments. I saw Andrew Luck throw a couple of awful pick sixes this year. His overall ability is tremendous. He is smart and familiar with the offense. He will improve because of that and his upside is thus immense. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Exactly! All-Pro QBs have bad games. I am not saying that RT is a sure thing but I am not going to look at a few bad games and panic. I believe this coaching staff can evaluate QBs better than the Parcells regime!

so this guy had a bad game against the 8th ranked team in the nation? He played against LSU? TExas? OMG! this guy needs some work beating the best!
