Solai more important than any of miami's fa

Soliai is a necessity to this defense, along with Grimes. Lock them both up.

Once again, Soliai is a two-down player in a 4-3, for the right price, fine bring him back, but there will be 3-4 teams out there that his value will be much higher than it is in Miami.

Several things make me think that Soliai is gone:
1. The Dolphins did not re-sign him during the season - he may have been a bit more affordable.

2. I read in an article Soliai no longer has a residence in Miami.

3. Other teams will offer him more money then likely Miami will (should) spend on him.

4. Was it the scheme or was it the Soliai or was it poor linebacker play???There were games last year when teams ran on us.

5. I like him because he's been a Dolphin for his whole career - but I do not love him - I hate to say it but I have a feeling his body is gonna start to give out now...For his sake I hope I am wrong.

There's no question Miami wants Soliai back, imo. Whether Big Paul wants to come back is another issue.

But, with Starks (who is the better DT of the two, if a different skillset) having flipped the bird at Philbin and having taken the tag very badly, Paul and David Canter know they have some bargaining power. I suspect what's happening is that Canter is testing our resolve on Paul, knowing 1) Paul would consider moving away and 2) Starks/Ireland issues have made keeping Starks difficult.

It's conceivable that Hickey could play the card with Starks that the slate is clean, in order to reduce the pressure to agree to Canter's inflated terms. But if Randy doesn't play ball, Soliai is going to be a priority signing for Miami and Paul might just get a big paycheck.

Cutting both loose and running with Odrick, Francis and a rookie/FA would be risky. Joe Philbin doesn't need risky right now.

Kep on mind that even if the FO wants to bring Starks and or Soliai back, the might not be able to. They want to lock up Grimes first imo and then you need to get at least 2 o-linemen. Also, we need a RB and a TE. Our run defense last year was bad too. Part of the blame goes to the LB's cause they sucked but part goes to the D-line too. They got pushed around a lot to my surprise. At most, I see us bringing back only one of the 2 DT's but not both.

Ozzy rules!!

I like both Starks and Soliai, but I think they can be replaced. There are some good young DTs who may be cheaper, and fill those holes. I think Soliai may look for a 3-4 team to play for, and i dont see us making that switch even if we have the personnel for it.

I'd like you to name even two guys that are "good young DTs who may be cheaper" that are even comparable to Randy Starks.

My fear is if we lose him we may have to look at a DT in the first round. I think this team has too many holes to do that. DL is a position of strength for us as of now. Would love to focus on drafting/strengthening other positions

Grimes is by far the most important FA we have this year. Think about how bad our depth would look without Grimes. Carroll is a FA, Patterson will be cut if no deal is reworked, and we have two drafted players from last year who barely saw the field. Granted they should improve but they played little to no snaps last year.

Big Paul is a two down lineman that can be replaced. I would like to re-sign him at our price though.

Jared Odrick. Sorry had to post it!

Its crucial to resign a DT, but Grimes is the most important resigning. Don't forget, both of the CBs we drafted last year couldn't see the field. despite injury after injury. Now Hickey told Nolan Carroll to test the market. Patterson can't stay healthy and is someone we should be cutting as to allocate the funds elsewhere (we need a pricey LT and either a RT or G. HB and LB should be FA targets, too.). Grimes is first priority, no doubt. After that, we sign either Soliai or Starks. and then we can move on to our more important issues.

I witnessed him get pushed around in the 4th quarter because he was winded too many times. Time to move on and find someone to replace him.

Dolphins cant afford to lose both DT. We can find many good things about both of them but in order to keep Grimes, we will likely lose one. Grimes is priority and one of the DT's next. Get an OT in FA, then draft out G, RB, LB, and one more DB. Its going to take a few years...
