Several Dolphins have wondered among themselves why Miami has been looking so closely at first- and second-round receivers, and their suspicion is that the Dolphins want to replace Mike Wallace in a year or so. Several players believe some of these coaches aren’t big fans of Wallace, and “Joe Philbin is running that place,” one prominent agent said.

But Wallace will have a big cap hit whether he's here or not in 2015. If Wallace is on the team in 2015, his cap hit would be $12.1 million. If he’s cut, it would be $9.6 million. If he’s traded, it would be $6.6 million.

There is a distinct possibility that neither are in Miami in 2015.

Hardly a shock after the drops and lack of fight last year... plus the fact he hasn't been in Davie all offseason is odd considering other players have been working out for ages and Wallace is someone who needs to improve.

Personally I always thought jennings was a far better choice and I would be willing to bet good money that Philbin agrees with me

In the past, I've found little correlation between who we talk to and who we draft. But I'm not surprised if they were unhappy with players on the offensive side of the ball if we scored 7 points in the last 2 games.

My theory is Wallace wasn't able to learn the playbook as much as the coaches would like but we're still throwing him out there every play anyway just because he's the 60 million dollar man. I think Jennings would have had a much bigger impact in the short term and still think we should have just signed them both.

Negative Nancy time, but if this team is not successful this year, this entire thing can be blown up...HC, QB and high priced players included.

Yes you have already said two posts ago

I don't see it happening unless its an epic failure. I would guess Hickey and Lazor have been given assurances that they aren't going to be fired at the end of the season simply for not making the playoffs, obviously Ross can always change his mind but he seems to prefer to err on the side of longevity rather than being too rash. The entire staff is probably working under the assumption they have until their contracts run out and if they're smart they should get themselves a little competition at QB in this draft.

:rolleyes2:

Can't be mad at the receiver who as running wide open and the qb threw a ****ty pass.

Funny if you go back and watch some Montana clips you will see that he misses his WRs amd TEs a LOT!!

I would say it is easier to catch than to throw pinpint passes while you expect to be decked -> you be the judge

The coaches can see the number of times he drops the ball or won't fight for positioning ie. the football -> just admit Wallace got paid and played like it

Dude has "Arms of Roth" What are they "little stubs" that he can't reach over the middle for fear of being hit? Exactly, he got paid ->

Classic overpay for the athlete with a good to great resume, doesn't matter the sport , he got paid and his interest is waning if it hasn't left him already

Isn't that what the coaches aboserve for their millionaire dollar investment

M Lee come on down -> we may have WR on the first day and/or a trade down into the second or early third and still get that WR

With a cap hit that large, the only scenario for Wallace not being here in 2015 is a trade. That might be possible but it's going to take a combination of three things to happen.
1. Interest from a contending team that thinks someone to stretch the field is what's going to put their offense over the top.
1. The team he goes to has the cap room to absorb his contract.
2. The team has a qb in whom they have confidence can get the ball into Wallace's hands.

Wallace isn't a great route runner. That's well known about him throughout the league although many here seemed to have been surprised by it. He's not going to be an easy sell. It might be you need a special kind of quarterback to really make Wallace really pay off because at this stage of his career, no one is going to make a good route runner out of him. I don't see weak teams going after him because they usually don't have good quarterbacks.

But on the other hand, football is a game of egos and we might find a GM who's more proud than smart to take him off our hands. Personally, I'm hoping the coaching staff devotes an enormous amount of time to getting Wallace and RT on the same page in camp this year. I'm not going to fault him or any other player for not going to voluntary stuff. Yes, it would be nice if every player on the team came in for the voluntary stuff but the season is grueling and if a player needs to recoup, they should recoup.

Well in the end the scheme they were running does not fit Wallace's style of play....poor move on Ireland's part.

I'm not sure he has the ability to read CB the same as Tannehill (if the CB does this you run X route if he does this you run T route) Hartline and Gibson were great at this and one of the reasons they received so much attention for Tannehill. I also believed that it came down from the top that they needed to get Wallace more involved...too much money and as a result he was forced the ball and tended to go against the natural feel of the offense and what Tannehill does.

In other words Wallace is a very expensive Tedd Ginn Jr. -> send them on the fly (creating space) and throw a few deep balls up to them to see if something sticks -

I see Hickeys Tamba Team made a good FA choice with Vincent. A 60M dollar player should do it all; run short medium and long routes and block and play slot too.
