"Shot across the bow or what?" LOL!!!

NBC GAMES WILL STREAM LIVE
Posted by Mike Florio on July 25, 2008, 11:35 p.m.
For the first time ever, NFL games will stream over the Internet. For free.

Wow.

According to Terry Lefton and John Ourand of SportsBusiness Journal, whose story will be published on July 28, the 17 NBC games will be available for viewing at NFL.com and NBCSports.com.

The apparent plan is to use the televised broadcast, with ads sold specifically for the web sites inserted in place of the commercials.

I dont see how this can be true albiet the NFL's contract with Direct TV and Sunday ticket... That would cause Direct TV to lose probably half their customers.

"NBC" games are the Sunday Night Football games. DirecTV doesn't cover Sunday Night games and Monday Night games anyway, only the sunday afternoon games.

So the regular games are ABC or CBS? (and FOX) I forget

FOX (NFC) and CBS (AFC) do the 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. games on Sunday afternoon.

NBC does the primetime Sunday night game

ESPN does the Monday night game

NFLN sprinkles in later in the season with Thursday night and Saturday night games.

This really isn't big news at all. Miami has no Monday night games this year that I know of and I know we have no Sunday night games on NBC. Both of which are nationally broadcasted in the first place. The only good news this could bring is possibly reports that the internet games brought in massive advertising revenue and then they, whoever they may be, are forced to consider broadcasting online in some fashion.

They need to talk to me when: A. DirecTV loses it's exclusive deal and more people are allowed to watch their favorite team with other companies and B. The NFL stops the retardation of destroying YouTube clips and most of all offers something even half-decent like MLB.TV has. Fans want to see their team.

Fire up the PC on Sunday night anyway, even if you aren't watching. The NFL is testing the market to see how many people will watch it. If they show a large number of viewers on nfl.com then next season perhaps they will offer a mlb.tv type package.

It's worth a shot anyway, as it sounds like it's free and you can walk away from your computer once it's started.

I'll give it a shot. Anything to get the NFL to realize there's a market outside of overpriced DirecTV exclusives. I don't care if it's buffering through RealPlayer on a 22 minute delay. I just want to watch the game at home with audio.

We still can get flex scheduled into the Sunday night slot . . . hey u never know . . .

Hopefully it's the start of a trend; but otherwise, this isn't big news at all. NBC games are broadcasted nationally anyway as they are Sunday Night games...which we don't have this season.

If CBS and Fox started doing the same thing, then that would be great, but this isn't really anything special for now.

The NFL needs to do what MLB does and offer every out of market game to be streamed for a reasonable subscription cost. If I didn't live in Miami, I'd pay a decent amount to be able to watch all their games live on my computer.
