Some more details on the Bess situation

Early in the morning, Bess was seen walking down the airport concourse “acting irrationally” — singing and dancing with his pants falling down.

When BSO deputy Thomas O’Brien, who works the airport detail, approached Bess, the football player crushed a cup of coffee on him and got into a fighting stance.

O’Brien, fearing for his safety, struck Bess in the leg with his baton. It apparently had no effect. Bess took off his shirt and got back into a fighting stance.

Trying to imagine this happening in front of me it sounds ****ing out of this world. At first I'd probably think they were filming an action movie or something.

Bess obviously has mental issues and that can happen to anybody irregardless of opportunities or not. Cut the guy some slack and be thankful that it's not you or someone you care about going through his pain.

He has been in a better position than 99 % of people in the US with people doing nothing but throwing help for any mental illness
he may be going through. He has absolutely none of my sympathy.

Send lawyers guns and money. I hope he gets the help he needs. He always worked hard for this team.
I'm not quite sure he went home with a waitress that was connected to the Russians, but I do suspect he has some sort of mental illness. Goonboss, it seems you've been hardened by the fact that you work in a setting around criminals day in and day out. What percentage of them have a legitimate mental illness? Does the prison you work for keep them in the general pop.? The reason I ask is I've seen mental illness first hand in my family and while i myself am not affected by it, some mental illnesses don't present themselves until later in life and they can completely destroy everything you've worked to be up until that point.

Friday, Davone Bess was arrested after an altercation with a police officer at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, where it was reported he was "acting irrationally" and his pants were falling down. He then tweeted out a picture of himself standing in front of a mirror stark naked early Saturday morning. It's since been deleted, but you can see a screen capture below.

this guy is on something a little stronger than just weed....

With regards to Bess, perhaps he felt he needed to maintain his tough guy image and that caused him to not seek the help he needed. This is an issue that has been documented from research of mental health professionals and is a real problem for certain individuals.

From Bess' Bio he came from a tough childhood in Oakland and had to overcame a lot of hardship to achieve what he did. Seeing that he will be getting the help he needs hopefully he can also overcome this very difficult time and get his life back in order.

If this is a mental breakdown of some type, I hope he gets the help he needs. If this is some drug induced episode, I have no sympathy for him at all.

Something tells me though, this is some type of illness.

Apparently there was another involvement between Bess and the police this morning. According to Adam Beasley, police were called to his hotel this morning over something medical.

Good Lord.

To bad he didn't uses some if the millions he stole from Miami to get his head examined! Weed huh? Well that explains his speed on punt returns.

I really don't have any sympathy for the guy. My sympathy is really reserved for the kids that
went through all the same stuff or worse that he did, but weren't given opportunity after
opportunity to turn their lives around. Honestly, Bess doesn't get a whole lot more than
contempt from me. He's seen both sides of life, and obviously chosen the one that leads
to what he knows to be destruction and grief.

There are offenders at the prisons I work at that I have boatloads more sympathy for, because
they didn't have things handed to them over and over and over again based on absolutely
nothing more than talent at playing a professional sport.

That probably sounds insensitive. Eh, so be it.

One thing I will say is that being hit by an expandable baton in the leg isn't
pleasant, it's not going to at all going to affect a guy that's mentally unstable
and/or on drugs. It probably would've been safer for everyone involved to
use a taser on him. I'm glad nobody else was hurt.

yea don't understand those that fell bad for the guy, he made a choice. I definitely have more respect for people who are actually struggling in life that have these issues

No sure how u figure he stole money from Miami , he played solid here. Amazing how people acted like he was as good as Wes Welker when he was here but when he leaves he just sucked

mental illness is a real battle for some people. It can change the very basis of reality. shame on those of us who are condemning DB for something that may be completely out of his control. we have all seen the hits he took wearing a dolphins uniform returning punts and playing in the slot. those could have played a role. bottom line is as human beings we should reserve judgement because we are not in his shoes. I have family members who have struggled with mental illness and to see bess fans turn on him so quickly just makes me sad.... let's have some empathy

So its ok to bash Johnathon MArtin even though he may not be right in head but Davonne Bess is taboo ok

Sound like mental issues, I hope Bess gets the help he needs before its too late....

Apples and oranges Bess did not blame anyone on his team for his issues, nor drag his team through the mud.
