Some Quick Thoughts After 2 Weeks of Watching Games and Viewing This Site

The several DB's that Clay runs over every time he gets the ball would probably disagree that he doesn't create a size mismatch. He looks for contact and is VERY hard to bring down. Not sure who you're watching on that one.....

Not necessarily talking about bulk here. More about his height. He is not a guy who can go out leap on a jump ball. A lot of his success comes in space, we need a guy at that position that can win balls when he is blanketed. He is basically a fullback on roids and does a lot good but does not fill a typical TE need.

I take exception to #3. The Dolphins have no complaints with injuries. We have been very healthy in recent seasons. I remember when I was a teenager we went through a stretch of seemingly one season ending knee injury per game during one season. There hasn't been anything like that recently with the Dolphins, even if we prefer to pretend otherwise.

Here is a thread from a site I respect. Lots of sharp posters. One guy compiled the numbers yesterday from Football Outsiders' Adjusted Games Lost research since 2008. The Colts are the most injured team in the league since 2008 by wide margin. New England is second. Miami is near the bottom, T27. Scroll down to the "RandyMoss..." poster for the numbers:

When depth is an issue I guess it hurts more. Losing Keller and Gibson before the season basically started hurt bad last year. Pouncey missed time at the worst point last year. Now this year with the LB core, Pouncey, and Moreno. Not sure or really care how we stack up since 2008 I just know we have been hurt in positions that we could ill afford to be hurt in so far this year. Not making excuses but I would have rather played the last game with four quarters of Moreno. A game plan can be built and stuck to with that guy not so much with his backups. Thanks for the interesting post and link though!

Clay is a weird kind of player. He makes big plays but limited at doing so. A real TE threat makes a couple of big plays a game and is very consistent in making receptions. It seems like Clay makes one real nice play a game but is very inconsistent at making receptions.
