Some Very Good & Very Bad vs KC

I was at the game and while the OL wasn't perfect. There were holes all over the place not to mention 2nd level blocking. If you believe L.Miller just became "better" all of a sudden? Then I got something i would like to sell you.

Darn Shame they didn't run a lot more. It was obvious more times than not they were able to run on KC defense.

Philbin was at the game as well, with a better seat. He has said that he has to watch film to see who did what, which is common sense for coaches and fans alike. I listed 9 carries where he had no space, and a couple more when he had to change direction. I did not see holes all over the place, other than a couple, and not buying what you are selling. :)

Feel free to show me the plays I was wrong on?

Well I disagree, I think they performed well in the running game. Lets not expect them to pancake their defender every play. All the OL needs to do is take their defender out of the play, and many times a stalemate does just that. Like I said, 7+ YPC is impossible behind a line that blocked poorly. And this is the first time I have seen designed cutback plays by Lazor with the whole line blocking down and a backside trap block. It worked extremely well the few times I saw it.

If you watched the game, you could easily see that there were not designed plays but, Miller having no where to go and changing direction.

All of them. Going back to July 2006.

As is your way, you take a good discussion, change the subject and/or make it personal when you are wrong, which is often. Gotta put you on ignore to make my forum better.

Its about time :hump:

Have you ever been on a sideline? You cant see the field nearly as well as you can from higher level seats

Mitchell is an effort player but not an effective player. He guesses and slants on every play and his instincts are hardly special. When he leaves an opening it can be disastrous. When he guesses correctly it's generally a play in which the entire defense has caved in the play and he shares the pile with teammates.

For a guy who penetrates so much, Mitchell is stunningly weak in pass rushing. That's why he is replaced on passing downs.

I'm sure he has glaring tendencies on which way he guesses varying on down and situation. It looked like Kansas City took advantage several times, including on their first touchdown run. Future opponents will study and do the same.

I'm not saying he's bad. But anyone going overboard on Mitchell will be proven wrong. Disruptive defensive tackles are my favorite player in football. This guy doesn't qualify.

It's far preferable to have a stout run stopper who demands double teams alongside an instinctive gap splitter. We don't have anyone who qualifies for either description. It's a blend of moderately effective hard trying aggressive guys. Maybe our best unit. But any opponent who isn't intimidated at first glance will find many weaknesses. I'm sure New England is already annoyed at how the first meeting played out, with them essentially giving up on the run for no apparent reason.
