Sounds like McCoy is probably the guy

Haven't been following this closely but McCoy is easily my top choice among the floated names. If not an established coach you want a young guy, a gamble on greatness, the smartest guy in the room type. I was blown away the first time I heard Sean Payton and Mike Tomlin interviewed, after they were hired. Both stood out as extra special. Miami should be replicating that mode. McCoy's name is easily the most astute from Ross this time. As George Young said of drafting Lawrence Taylor, my grandmother can pick Jim Harbaugh.

McCoy did a masterful job once Tebow had the reigns, boosting the number of rushing attempts to astronomical number by current NFL standards. As I've pointed out in previous years, 82-84% of NFL games are won by the team with highest number of rushes, even if the goofs at FootballOutsiders are in constant denial and no doubt were wobbly when Denver pulled out so many games with that approach.

A guy who is a year early is infinitely preferable to a slob hire like Mike Zimmer, a screamer type who would be 56 years old before coaching his first NFL game. The odds on hitting big with that type is next to nil. Zimmer defined himself during the Bobby Petrino situation, when he ranted and cursed like a bar stool conventional wisdom fool. He'd impress the drill sergeant crowd. Wonderful. I'm reminded of Frank Gore earlier this season, emphasizing that previous 49er coaches would have lit into the team at halftime while trailing big, like this season as halftime against the Eagles. Harbaugh calmly detailed how the 49ers were in perfect position to make adjustments and pull it out. You know what course Zimmer would take, his face like hot coal.

I'm always in favor of doing the right thing from a big picture standpoint, as opposed to minutiae regarding individual characteristics within the dilemma. If you hit big with a 39 year old it could define the franchise for a decade or more. Putting full faith in a 55 or 56 year old journeyman as first time head coach is like trading up for a frail bubble screen quarterback who rarely is asked to scan center field and who was rated a second round pick or lower to begin the season, despite starting from early in his freshman year. We can't be that dense again, like drafting a 5th year senior running back #2 and expecting him to live up to the status.

you've got ross and ireland making the decisions...we can absolutely be dense...

one thing about us Dolphins fans...we're very passionate about every little or big decision the FO makes.....lol.....at this point I just don't care anymore who we hire......just get it over with and we'll see what happens.

I believe what he did with Orton and Marshall last yr should represent his talents. For being so young hes been coaching for 12 yrs.

During his NFL coaching career, McCoy has overseen six individual 3,000-yard passing seasons from his work with Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme (4) and Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton (2). He also has been involved with the coaching of four Pro Bowl selections, helping Delhomme (2005) along with Broncos tackle Ryan Clady (2009) and wide receivers Brandon Marshall (2009) and Brandon Lloyd (2010) earn NFL All-Star honors.

Fact - Josh McDaniels would get credit for Success with Orton/Marshall as he called plays while Marshall was with Denver.

Fact - Dan Henning was also effective with Carolina and McCoy was never OC there either.

Fact - 3,000 yards passing sucks! 3 guys threw for more than 5,000 yards this season.

Fact - McCoy is a run first guy and a Henning Pupil. We ran Henning out of town did we not?

you didn't answer my question...

This is getting bad as the day goes by...wow

We're really going to suck next season...:rolleyes2:

Who would McCoy bring in as OC and DC. He has worked with few top caliber coaches so I believe he would have a hard time establishing a good staff.

Who from Carolina or Denver would you want that he has worked with?

thats true we could hit it big and end up with the next sean payton although it will never work like that with matt moore...or this could blow up in our face...thats the way i see it...no middle ground...he's either gonna blow or be awesome

the funny thing here on this thread is that nobody has been hired yet....they asked him and Bowles back for a 2nd time, that's it. Some people here are hating this guy already and he's not even the coach yet. Before this, everyone was sick of us getting people that had ties to Ireland(Zimmer) but now they want Zimmer....lol

Philbin and Bowels are also getting second interviews. Out of the three I would prefer Philbin as the HC and Bowles as the DC.

It doesn't matter who we bring in, someone will be unhappy. If it was Cowher or Gruden, people would take a dump on them, too. Hell if we traded some draft picks to New England for Belichick, there would be people complaining about that move because he hasn't won **** without Brady.

so first fisher was 80/20, than momentum was shifting to zimmer, now mccoy is probably the guy... none of these ****ing media idiots know anything.

hey at the very least we have something to talk about....if we already had a HC there'd be nothing to talk about till free agency
