Sources: Ireland suggested that Martin confront Incognito physically

No fighting in hockey has been considered part of the game. I am talking about a incident where a player used his stick attacked another player from behind viciously and that player suffered great bodily harm.

That wasn't a fight first of all, that was a cheap shot. Second of all that's ridiculous, that's like saying drinking and driving is ok as long as you don't hurt anybody. The point of most rules and laws is to limit the risk of injury.

And you are spamming the same whining response about me calling him out for spamming the same URL....try to keep up.

It's a punch in a sport that allows punches and fighting. Do you actually have a point or are you just spinning away hoping to justify the Dolphins actions.

Lots of liberals on this board. How's that $500 mil web site thing going? That's about the biggest disaster I've ever seen. Open checkbook and 3.5 years to get it done and once implemented the laughing stock of the country and no one gets fired....
I agree with you 100%.
That does not mean Jeff Ireland does not deserve to be fired. His wasted picks, bad signings and bad coaching hires are the reason he should be fired. This incident just proves that he has 0 awareness of situations.
You dont ask players if their mother is a whore and you don't tell an agent that his player should punch another player, especially in the year 2013. I woudln't want someone with that much poor judgement running my team.

You tell your kid to stand up and punch a bully, you don't tell the agent of a player that the player should "punch" the bully. Shows complete lack of awareness from Ireland. Even worse the fact that he didn't confront Cog over it or just let him know to tone it down is terrible.

problem is people seem to think we are still in high school. When you are Adult, punching someone is assault no matter where it happens. Meaning u can do jailtime, get a criminal record ect... its not high school anymore where u get a 10 day suspension and come back to school like nothing happened. Sure practice fights happen and are ok, but if your planning to assault someone is completely different. Its bush League Criminal behavior, ireland is a moron, this hole thing is becoming a great story for this franchise, ireland gets fired, philbin turns in his resignation(not cut out to be HC) , and ross sells the team because the brand has gone stale after this. We get a new owner, process starts over and the healing process begins.

what thread has Richie Incognito's father's posts in it? I'm curious now, drd1994 is the poster or something like that. Kind of interesting, I always wondered if players or family members of players secretly viewed or wrote on popular team message boards. According to deadspin, this is the belief.

search for him, he made a thread going ham on john martin, being racist and ugly. Sounded like a complete retard.

It allows punches the same way it allows clubbing, in that both are against the rules and both incur a penalty under the rules. My point is your assertion that the same rules/laws that apply to a fastfood kitchen should also apply to a major league sport is ridiculous.

theres no different definitions of assault, assault is assault no matter where it happens.

There is a rule against slashing in hockey, doesn't that make it a part of the game?
Marty McSorley was convicted for assaulting Donald Brashear after viciously hitting him in the head with a stick in the last two seconds of a game about 10 years ago. I have played hockey for more than 45 years and this is not part of the game.

Jeff Ireland's name may be in the header but this development -- if true -- is all about Joe Philbin. Somehow only Walrus picked up on that. Philbin hasn't left any wiggle room at all. Everything he's said stresses that Martin didn't have any specific complaint leading up to the departure, or within the days afterward. The media will be all over Philbin if this Ireland story turns out to be accurate. Ireland will be a sub plot. I'm sure certain posters here would desperately pick apart Philbin's words, looking for an escape, but the media and anyone with a fleck of sensibility would laugh them out of the room. Philbin's underlying theme was crystal.

If Philbin didn't know about Ireland's involvement, then Ireland watched Philbin mislead the public and the press for several days, apparently hoping his role wouldn't surface.

This is the first twist that makes me think both of them could be in jeopardy, although I still think it's the favorite that at least Philbin will return.

Let's see how Ireland handles this, if he aggressively confronts the story or takes the Incognito approach and hides in the background as soon as he looks vulnerable.

Maybe Philbin and Ireland should hold a dual presser, with Ross providing the introduction. Let's display our brain trust to the country instead of confined to our little knitting group.

It makes me appreciate Donna Shalala and Al Golden, who were superb during the NCAA theatrics. Different caliber.
