Sources: Ireland suggested that Martin confront Incognito physically

I actually agree with Ireland. If someone is "bullying" you....be a man and stand up for yourself! This is FOOTBALL people, smh. THIS isn't an office job.

So you agree with the General Manager of an NFL team to tell one player to "punch" another player? If, and I stress if, this story is true what it means is Jeff Ireland could have prevented all of this. He pretty much showed that he didn't care about a player who was being genuine about the way he was feeling, a player who came to him when maybe he didn't feel comfortable going to coaches (for whatever reason). So what if the overall consensus is "Martin's soft", he had a DUTY to get off of his ass and ensure this situation would not get blown out of proportion and bring the gentleman together and get this resolved in house. His lack of action, if this matter holds true, is borderline criminal if you ask me . . . from his lack of action to him condoning violence in the work place.

This is getting so good.

Whatever it takes to shame Ross into firing them all. Muahahahaha. All apart of my evillll plan.

People will run with the smallest of the truth or context in EVERYTHING.

I find it hilarious that Dolphins fans are still taking this story seriously. This is comical.

Uhm, if you weren't taking this seriously, why are you commenting on the topic?
And no matter how comical (trust me, it's comical alright) it has become, and will be, it is a very serious topic until the year is over.

The fact that you're naive to how serious the situation has become is comical as well.

I think they HAD to suspend him for the racial slur in the message. Even if they are on his side(they obviously have a better grip on the situation than the public does) they HAD to suspend him for that.

Based on what. They could have came out and said they are investigating the matter, there was no written rule that he must be suspended. Many players have been accused of many things and they still played.
Pesonally I dont get all this context stuff because it doesnt matter how one wants to explain context its an ignorant statement that only the stupidest of people would engage each other in. I got a guy scrubbing walls tonight and a few hundred dollars poorer because of what he said in a text message and context mattered not one bit because it was viewed as offensive. We dont know that Martin was ok with being referred to that way just because other black players seemed ok with it. Riley Cooper was not suspended so its not like they had to. Incognito was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team not suspected conduct.

GM's and entire organizations are preparing for the worst. So you will start to hear today how bad this is just because a GM said he should stick up for himself.

You can chant all you want for Ireland to be gone, but this changes the league once again. and not for the better.

My question now is...R U lawyered up Martin?

Criminal? So you're apart of Roger Goodell's investigation to deem him a criminal? We can all speculate but we do NOT know the context of the phone call...

It could have been where Jeffy was like " WHy didn't he stand up for himself?" "Why didnt he just punch him in the face?"

I seriously doubt Jeff Ireland demanded Martin to fight it out....he was probably just as shocked as anyone else

and its kinda funn because every damn former player and coach are saying he should have done the same thing. interesting dichotomy playing out here.

Lawyered up? Are you kidding me? His parents are successful attorneys from Harvard Law School with a Rolodex full of high powered well connected contacts that is the equal of any owner in the league.

The one interesting thing about the claim is that it happened before the walkout. If the agent even called Ireland that call would be on record and it would show that this was not just a reaction that was a quick save for walking out.
Alot of stuff being thrown around and none of us know the truth but Im more incline to believe that this is not just a case of some mythical money grab and that there is a bigger issue here one way or the other.

Jeff Ireland's name may be in the header but this development -- if true -- is all about Joe Philbin. Somehow only Walrus picked up on that. Philbin hasn't left any wiggle room at all. Everything he's said stresses that Martin didn't have any specific complaint leading up to the departure, or within the days afterward. The media will be all over Philbin if this Ireland story turns out to be accurate. Ireland will be a sub plot. I'm sure certain posters here would desperately pick apart Philbin's words, looking for an escape, but the media and anyone with a fleck of sensibility would laugh them out of the room. Philbin's underlying theme was crystal.

If Philbin didn't know about Ireland's involvement, then Ireland watched Philbin mislead the public and the press for several days, apparently hoping his role wouldn't surface.

This is the first twist that makes me think both of them could be in jeopardy, although I still think it's the favorite that at least Philbin will return.

Let's see how Ireland handles this, if he aggressively confronts the story or takes the Incognito approach and hides in the background as soon as he looks vulnerable.

Maybe Philbin and Ireland should hold a dual presser, with Ross providing the introduction. Let's display our brain trust to the country instead of confined to our little knitting group.

It makes me appreciate Donna Shalala and Al Golden, who were superb during the NCAA theatrics. Different caliber.

If this DID occur, Ireland's remaining stint with the Fins should last about 12 hours.

And that is why I prefaced "if the story is true". I'm not sure that it is . . . but if it is, yes, I personally feel it borders on "criminal negligence" on the part of Jeff Ireland. Obviously needs to be proven, nobody is denying that.

Damn, Martin's camp is good at this. Reminds me of how Snowden released new bombshells in drips and drabs for maximum effect

You're naive to think I'm being naive. It's guys who play a game and their emotions. A real life soap opera. I don't care. My only dog in this fight is seeing this regime gone. The more negative news and rumors that come out, the better. It's all about the greater good for me.

Jeff Ireland's authority and obligation stands much higher than any former player and coach in this situation. Getting high fives from the Finheaven faithful for words condoning violence because they feel he is justified in doing so, will and should get him fired. Again, this needs to be proven, so it's all a moot point until then.

If true, doesn't this also contradict what Martin said? He said he didn't tell anyone in the organization about bullying before leaving or even afterward
