I think Ireland's in some hot water either way.
Not sure what the discipline could be from the NFL/Dolphins, because I don't think there has been anything happen in the past that this is comparable to.
I don't necessarily agree with it, but I do think Ireland will stay, unless the NFL takes some kind of action and forces Ross' hand.

It's the NFL. A couple fights per week in practice is not uncommon. In fact Martin was involved in several. Why isn't he filing physical abuse charges for those altercations?

I agree it makes little difference. In both cases the GM is condoning violence in the workplace. It's not good either way and it's certainly not the way to address the issue after the fact. Ireland should have called Philbin and Incognito into his office to find out exactly what was going on. He should have told Zuckerman...I was unaware there was an issue but I will get to the bottom of this ASAP and get back to you when I have more information. Not, Martin should have decked Incognito.

This certainly doesn't clear Ireland...it would have been worse had he said it before Martin's departure because that would have meant inaction on his part but this doesn't really make him look any better.

Well Martin has no history of filing anything. Obviously if he has been in some fights he is not beyond defending himself, maybe there is a deeper issue here none of us know.
Its quite different for your GM to come out and tell u to resolve it like that and believe me there would be some repercussions. Personally I wouldnt be taking advice from some college punter with man boobs about how to handle my business lol
