Special teams lost the Bills game

I'm with ya... I just expected a lot more out of the O than we got. No one stepped up that day...we were manhandled.

And your absolutely correct in calling out the offense with only 10 points on the board. That's not acceptable.

so you think we win if those special teams plays never happened? WAKE UP!!! We were handled in every phase of the game...since you want to go with "ifs" then IF those plays didnt happen then they would have been able to score on us in other ways....WE SUCK..this team has had plenty of time to get it together...you don't get beat up last year twice by a division rival including a shut out at home (not to mention the bills using a third string qb) , have all off season to marinate on it and then just get steamrolled....

You don't think special teams had anything to do with the loss ? There are lots of our threads talking about the QB and offense so you are welcome to comment there. I thought several areas contributed to the lose and with better special teams play we still had a shot to win. I could be wrong but i don't think their effect on the game should be ignored.
We did suck THIS GAME but we started with a win over the Pats and are 1 and 1 in the division so as a whole we certainly do not suck as of yet.

I'd agree FFM...IMHO the #1 killer was ST (every facet except FGs), #2 I'd put on the passing game (bad routes, drops, and off throws, NOT just RT), #3 O line (mainly 1st half), #4 pass coverage (how does Watkins get THAT open ALL game?).

Giving up 22 pts on defense and 7 on special teams lost us the Bills game. A strong D/ST covers up a lot of ills...we don't have one yet and the jury is going to be out for a while on that one.

It's all about perspective. It was a team loss vs Buffalo. We got it handed to us in all three phases.

It was really 10 points from a practical standpoint. The fumble off the punt was an easy three.

The k/o return was the turning point. I really think we would have clawed back if that didn't happen. Not only did it score points but it kept the crowd in. If we could have held them after we scored the TD ... who knows what would have happened.

It's similar to when Wake sacked Brady ... one play can change the game.

Ryan and the offense have rightfully taken lots of heat for their effort but the biggest culprit was Rizzo's unit.

Block punt

100 yard kickoff return

Fumbled punt

Hard to win when they keep giving away scores and field position. Ya i know lots of special team guys were force to play on defense but that effort was really bad and more than anything lead to the lose.

Thoughts ?

I didn't post up a score and who would win. I did say that the team who turned the ball over and screwed up more would lose.

Once Knowshon went down with injury, I knew a lot would change and not for the good. I know using injuries is not pretty, but lets face it, he was the guy who could power through that DL.

A lot of stuff happened Sunday that was not good. The offense had to fight crowd noise. Something other teams don't ever have to worry about in Miami.

That was a special teams performance from hell. FO now has us 32 in ST for the year. Guess who's number 1? The Bills. ST can make a world of difference when they're played this poorly.

In fact, I don't think we were dominated nearly as bad as many people think. It's not just the easy 10 points you can count off the top of your head. Field position translates to points, people. There are even charts that tabulate how many points field position is worth. We easily lost more than two TDs in ST.
