No, there is no reason to try. He came into this job and the roof caved in on him. He has done the best he could do to fill in the gaps. The problem is that there are just too many gaps to fill in such a short time. Hell, the guy didn't even have an entire offseason AND he had even LESS time to deal with Williams leaving (which was a HUGE blow on its own). I think that Rick should stay (Bates and Trestmen as well) and fire the rest.

I like his first draft quite a bit actually.
I also like the O-Gun trade.
We could have gotten more for O-Gun IF the insanity with Ricky and the injury to Boston hadn't happened. Both DID happen however and I think, in the circumstances he did a fine job in bringing in some good Offensive talent.

As for the AJ move? :confused2
I have no idea. Only time will tell with that one. You can't assess the guy after one start on a team that is full of problems on offense. I'm willing to wait out the season and see.

I am still and always have been fully behind you on the Wanny front though.
I've been talked into being patient with him by other posters but I have yet to see any improvement in his coaching. I"m 100% convinced now that he is a major weakpoint.

I just want to correct myself...Although I do agree with the first post of this thread, I dont blame Spielman, but at this point I want a nw beggining, clean house and start over, it has nothing to do with blaming Spielman. I do ,however, blame Wanny.

just wondering... what in your vocabulary does "righting" mean? To stop the ship from sinking? To slow down the sinking? To sink, pull up, and sail off "right" again? And do any of those properly describe the 2 worst back to back losses in the last 25 years?

Choose any of those meanings you wish. He has done his best with the cards that were dealt him. Now, I ask you, how is Rick responsible for the back to back losses? Was he coaching? Was he calling the plays? Was he blocking (or in the case of our line tonight, waiving at the defensive players go by)? Did he throw the interception that was returned by the defense for a TD? I just ask since it seems you are another that wants to point fingers at Spielmen.

No, you misunderstand my post. Perhaps I was a bit overzelous. Rick is far far down my list of people to blame for this team's implosion evolving over the last few years. But this ship, as you said, isn't being "righted" -- not by Rick, not by anyone. It's sinking f--ing fast. Is that Rick's fault? Not in my opinion. But his changes didn't turn it into the SS Superbowl either.

And as I have said in other posts in this thread, he did what he could with what was handed him coming into the position of GM. There were just too many gaps to fill with what he had to work with and the timeframe he was given. It wasn't for lack of trying.
 
fair enough, but "righted" means, i assume, corrected. Nothing's corrected. Did he make the best of a bad situation, maybe. But after what I saw in preseason from this oline, I knew deep down it wouldn't matter what WR or RB you brought in at the last minute. Whoever they brought would be Band-Aid solutions. The real wound the whole time was the Oline, and without correcting it, it would just infect the rest of the team...
