I would think it has more to do with the players than the scheme.

After all, this is the exact thing Sherman was doing when he won 3 straight division titles in Green Bay. The system has been proven to work in the NFL.

Sounds like you wanted Parcells to stay....cause you know, he won a Super Bowl and had success with multiple teams.
