Sporting News RB grades..

I dont understand why everyone thinks Ricky is going to suck. He might not be 4.8ypc and 1850 yards, but odds are not alot has changed for him.

Being out of football for a year is not a big deal. When Jamal Lewis and Edgerin James blew their ACLs, it was the physical aspect that came along with injury that killed them, not the rust.

Physically, his year off might have been a boon, actually. While he didnt really show it, two years of such heavy carries isnt good for long term health.

I couldn't agree more Disgustipate.

I would caution the Bills not to place too much hope on Willis McGahee. He's good and I like him, but William Green did pretty much the same thing Willis did in his rookie year. He then proceeded to level off. Before we start declaring them as having the best RB in the division, lets wait until Willis shows some seasonal consistency.

Ricky Williams is a proven commodity. There should be no questions about him on the field. Those questions are all off the field in nature.

And then there's Ronnie Brown. I know we should wait until we see him in action before dubbing him the next coming, but I think normally when someone chooses a runningback in the top 5, they are given more respect than he is being given. I wonder what they gave the Bucs?

...guys we got a B. A "B" is a very good grade, especially for a team who is starting a rookie running back and a guy who has been way from the game for a year. The bills got a B+, just a "+" higher then us, and they have 2 proven backs. In my opinion this gade is right on.

Here is where I disagree with your point. Being out of football due to an injury, while all the while staying in football shape is different than leaving the game to do other things. A year off any sport is devastating, but when your not working to stay in that shape at all, it hurts worse.

That's not to say he won't or can't come back to his previous form, it's just that it is not an on/off switch they can turn on at any time.

I think what it means is that we're a B right now. If those guys do what we think they can do, we can be an A+ rushing team.

Also, that Ronnie sig is tight as hell. Is he actually wearing the jersey or is that another graphically enhanced image? It looks real...if so..when did he put on the gear?
Thanks. I got that image out of USAToday's Sportsweekly a few weeks ago. I had to run it thru photoshop to clean up the other headline and article -and try to hide the print from the other side of the newsprint when I scanned it. I should have put some black paper behind it to keep the scanner from picking it up. but that IS him in Phin Gear!

Last year ricky woulda made the team an A. And now that he was gone for a year, even though hes almost back to his playing weight months ahead of time, we have him and another future hall-of-famer were only a B?I dont buy it. well just have to prove ourselves on the field and thats fine with me.

I have a feeling they'll be eatting that "B" grade once the year is done.

Its so funny how your arguing over a "B" or an "A" what difference in the world does it matter either way what frieken sporting news rates you. If you get than A is that a lock for the playoffs. I dont see why anyone is putting any significants on this at all.

It's the same is we were discussing the situation with a bill's fan or pat or jet..we add Ricky to the backfield, one would think that makes a substantial different in the grade of the backfield. Even without Ricky you would think a top 5 and Lamont Gordon, plus Morris would get a B+, if not A-. When you add Ricky and Minor, plus the pick up of undrafted Kay Jay, who wasn't bad in college, right now you should give Miami more potential. But I'm not sweating the grades right now. Miami overall in the football media world is not expected to do anything, so this is in keeping with the sterotyped 5-11 team people expect us to be.

You are totally missing my point. What does it matter what freakn sporting news grades you?

You're just upset because Sporting News has the Bills finishing 4th in the East.

It doesn't matter when I'm at work, or I'm eating dinner, or mowing the lawn. It only matters when I come to Finheaven to discuss such things. Get my point??

What does it matter to you, what we talk about on this site??

Wow, I know everyone likes to take a wait-and-see approach, but I'm not sure how Ricky Williams' sudden retirement has made him less talented on the football team, and how a #2 overall pick runningback even alone compares to unfavorably to Corey Dillon, Curtis Martin, and Willis McGahee.

Corey Dillon in his prime wasnt as good as RW. Dillon is a good back, but he's no youngster anymore. With his style of running, I think it will start to show.
I wouldn't trade RW or RB for Corey Dillon or Curtis Martin.
Let's just wait until the season starts. No sense getting offended by the disrespect.
I think its great that this team stays under the radar and everyone thinks we will be a bottom dweller. I hope the Broncos are thinking that way, because if they are, they are in for a rude awakening.

Agreed. The Dolphins will have the best RB rotation by far. I also would rate McGahee above Dillon and Martin at this point in their careers. Martin will start to slow down.
