Sports Buzz: Dolphins WR depth caused some unhappiness

Who the hell does Matthews think he is? He could started by contributing to special teams.

Secondly, I still think Gibson can help this offense most compared to Landry and Matthews.

If any should have a beef it is Hartline. The offense used to run through him and he has the best chemistry with Tannehill. He should have the additional targets.

Totally agree about Hartline. Lazor is making a big mistake not including him more.

One of my first thoughts when I read Barry Jackson's piece last night was that he was about to go from Finheaven's Darling to some kind of asshole.

But I was wrong, clearly.

I think people are being a little too harsh on him but when he's had two chances to make plays and not made 'em -- including a catch he's made before -- he's not doing himself any favors by demanding a trade.

We tried to trade him in Aug but no team would give anything because they thought he'd be cut. Also, he's had 3 chances and dropped all 3 if you include the fact that he couldn't bend down and pick up a blocked punt against the Pats.

Who the hell does Rishard think he is? I've been a big supporter of the guy throughout, but that's absurd. You want more snaps? Earn them and play better than the guys ahead of you. Frankly, he's been our worst WR so far this year.

As for McCain, I have no idea why he's not receiving more snaps. With his build and athleticism, we should absolutely develop him as an OLB. We can't just develop everyone as a DE. We all know our LB corps needs the talent. I hope McCain gets a lot of burn this week.

Couldn't agree more. Hey Rishard, you've done nothing in this league to be able to warrant a trade request. Stfu and play.

He asked for a trade before the season. He's not doing that now.

And anyway it doesn't have anything to do with his drops this season. People aren't saying he sucks too much to be worth something. They just don't like the idea of someone "rejecting" the Dolphins because their fandom has crossed over into delusional self identification.

He's a 7th round pick who has already been passed over multiple times by every other team in the league. He's shown moderate potential, but has had limited success in this league yet he's demanding a trade because he feels Brian Hartline is an unreachable standard to overcome and would find an easier road somewhere else. I think in this case, the delusion rests with our 5th WR.

personally, while Rishard Matthews has shown flashes, I feel that some here have put him on a pedestal for no reason.

I can't tell whether you think he shouldn't seek to be traded because he sucks too much to be traded or because as a seventh round pick he should be so quivering with loyalty that he's out there washing Joe Philbin's car every morning.

If he sucks too much... why did he make the team? Sentimentality? Because he tells funny jokes in the locker room? Why don't you want him to be cut?

And if you think he should be undyingly loyal to us... then that is truly the delusion. The NFL is not a loyalty business. No one on the team or on this board would blink if Matthews was cut if they thought it was making the team better. Yet Matthews is expected to be so loyal he can't even even privately request to be traded because he feels unfairly buried on the depth chart (which he is)? Yeesh.

Yeah, I never got the love for Mathews by a select few. I mean nobody seems to be writing him off as terrible, so I guess in that sense he could be considered relatively beloved by the finheaven masses, but I would say the majority feels like he isn't better than Hartline at this point, and we know how most feel about Hartline.

What disturbing about this for me is I loved what I saw in researching LaMicheal James, and that is kind of a similar situation.

Yes, the ability to trip over your own feet after every catch is rare...

Productive year after year. He is exactly where RT expects him to be. Great professional receiver.
