Sports Buzz Wednesday 8-13

where the hells anufan with the gonna rub it in my face cause egnews gonna ball out crap???

that said if they keep 4 tights i think he survives barring someones cut being added and i think they will keep 4 to start the year

Because Landry is simply better for one, and Binns offers up a larger target....trade is more likely...but I do think we keep 6 receivers.

Not yet he isn't. Maybe he turns into a better one but as of right now he has yet to catch a pass in a regular season game. Gibson has proven he can beat NFL defenses play after play when they matter most, 3rd down. When Landry leads the league in 3rd down % then we can have this conversation, but right now Landry is a player full of potential that has caught exactly 0 NFL passes and only one preseason pass. I don't think anyone but a few delusional dolphin fans are going to confuse him with Jerry Rice.

What a joke. Gibson was looking like the best/most reliable receiver on this team last year before his injury. Plays with an edge and gas the ability to get in the endzone. Would be furious if this happened.

I would have no problem cutting Daniel Thomas and Gillislee. I think Thigpen has more value than both of them at this point, and Williams has shown th kind of toughness you want.

Gibson ain't going anywhere...except to 'da house!

He was talking about Landry being better than Matthews at this point, not Gibson.

Give me a break. Gibson is a smart, reliable receiver. The only reason to ditch him would be if there were questions about his durability. He was proving to have great chemistry with Tannehill last season before his injury. Quite frankly, I prefer him over Hartline especially when their salaries are compared.

If Landry does prove himself in live action this season as we all expect, I'd be comfortable letting either Hartline or Gibson go next season.

They probably started looking into moving Gibson when they saw his touchdown dance in the first preseason game. No bueno.

No what's absurd is talking about ditching Gibson for 2 mil in savings for a team that isn't cap strapped! They want to save something ditch Moore!

then RT goes down in week 5, and then we do what? Rely on Lobato or Quinn? Hello first pick in the draft.....

Binns has done nothing this training camp and you have barely seen Landry play, so the assumption that he's automatically better than Gibson is just absurd.

Bracket is last years chad bumphis, is the leading receiver in the preseason and everybody raved about. He will more than likely get cut and at best make a practice squad somewhere in the league.

The top 5 WR are now obvious to me with Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Mathews, and Landry. To me someone really has to make a case to kepp a 6th WR on the 53 instead of an extra lineman, D-lineman, LB, or DB. I would guess 2 QB's but 3 really wouldnt surprise me that much.

When a lot of the passing game is predicated on timing and the QB/WR being on the same page - I would be very shocked if they cut/trade Gibson. He's a comfort blanket in the slot for RT, however, lets not forget, that we turned him into a Slot WR, he was an outside guy before he got here - brings even more value.

Additionally, with the movement, alignments that are being spoken of, of the Lazor offense, WR's, TE's and even the RB's will end up playing all over the place, inside and outside.

Gibson brings great value to this offense. And it looks like Hickey has made a point of developing a strength within the receiving corps with the volume of players he's signed to compete.

The player that I am very curious about this year is Cone who seems to be getting more reps with RT that I would ever have expected. Yes he had a brain fart on his catch in the red zone by not getting his second foot down in time, but it was his movement, size and hands that stood out to me.

Getting back to Gibson, I see a lot of similarities - playing style wise and physique - between Landry, Gibson and Matthews and the fact that they can play anywhere will make it difficult for defenses to key on any one in particular. Caveat here is, I'm not saying this is my top three, just that I like these three as a group. And a relatively young group at that.

I Concur !!

I agree with you 1-2-3. My problem is finding three tight ends I like enough to keep on the roster. For that reason, a sixth wide receiver could have a shot.

In the end, I think Miami looks for other team's castoffs at tight end and maybe at running back when the final roster is put together.

It's absurd to me that they're still talking as if Rishard Matthews might be cut.

How stupid can this team be?

Well the issue is Matthews is our 5th best receiver at best. The team then has to consider what does he add on special teams.
Matthews is definitely on bubble although he has looked good at times. He is caught in a numbers game. He was at risk as soon as we drafted Landry
