Steve Smith: why not kick the tires?

S Smith is a beast. Better than Hartline and Wallace easy. If vap frienflt fign him up. Plus ads mo
xy on O that we need.

[Steve Smith] was released yesterday, for those who didn't know. Here's a signing that would make a lot of sense, to me:

For whatever reason, Smith seems to be a guy that takes longer than average to get on the same page with his quarterback. Granted, once there, he's a great receiver but unless he gets hooked up with a qb who can adjust to him quicker than he can adjust to the qb, it could be a disappointing first year. Tannehill takes a long time to get a feel for his receivers. So no, I don't think it would be a great fit. Unfortunately, I think Brady could pull it off, so let's hope he doesn't land in NE.

Steve Smith is probably my favorite player not on the Fins. But, I don't think it makes sense. But, I am trying to talk myself into wanting to sign him, here are some things im telling myself:

He is better than Hartline right now
He plays harder than anyone we have
would be great guy for our WR to look up to
Will block his ass of downfield
He can still make big plays in the YAC game.
KEEP HIM AWAY FROM BRADY!!

If you kick Steve Smith's tires, he will break your nose and give you a black eye. Just ask Ken Lucas.

There's no way we even entertain the idea of this guy being on our team.

I like the idea of signing him for the team motivator that he is. But, as already pointed out, who would we cut to make room for him? Because of that I say pass on him.

Smith still has a lot left to give. There are quite a few pissed off Carolina fans wondering what on earth their front office is thinking right about now. Cam Newton has been spectacular at times but he can also be an incredibly inaccurate passer and Steve has caught so many passes over the last couple years that a 5'9 guy has no business catching. The only guys the Phins have that can go catch balls outside their zone that I've seen are Gibson and Clay, and Clay is inconsistent at best.

Besides, like the other poster said......do you really want to see what Brady can do with quality receivers again?

We have a quality set of young WRs who are more than up to the job if T-Hill can get 3 seconds to throw.

Finish building a quality O-line and bring in a big RB for short yardage and this can be a damn good offense.

Brandon Gibson's name shouldn't come anywhere close to discussions on being cut. Decent? He's a damn good receiver.

Gibson was T-Hill's favorite target before he went down.

Revis can only cover one of Wallace, Hartline and Gibson, which is the problem with putting over ten million in cap in one CB basket.

Not a chance he goes to Miami. I wouldn't be shocked to see him go to one of the usual teams. Pats, Broncos, 49ers, etc.

Steve (is all about me) Smith? I don't think so. Haven't we learnt anything yet? Marshal/Chad....smh

Ozzy rules!!

I think Gibson was our best receiver before he got hurt last season.

If his rehab is going well, I'd be a hell of a lot more in favor of extending him rather than cutting him.

He probably wants to win a Championship, we've been in rebuilding mode for more than a century.

hell no! him and wallace will not get along.

I disagree. he would be good for Wallace. Steve Smith is a very hard workwer and lays it all on the line. You will never see Steve Smith not go up and try to knock a ball down to avoid an INT!

People are acting like Steve Smith is not a team guy or a leader bc he fought a teammate. That happens ALL the time! He is emotional and really wants to win.
I am not saying he is a good fit for us, bc I like our young wrs. but, lets not pretend like he has off field issues, or he is a "ME" guy.
