Stitches' Mock Draft #2 (2/23/07)

nice job stich... Beason would be great imo. I do however see a surprise wr falling to our pick in rd 2.

oh hell i wouldnt draft a wr in the late rounds d'jaun woods is better then those guys if he is available in rd 4 take woods and this would allow us to get quinn or the levi brown. but its jarrett that we really need not a rb or a dt .

What do people think of the plausibility of this draft at least? Too early for some players, too late? Bad value? Great value? Think we'd look at a different position at certain spots?

Very plausible.

1st round
Love Levi Brown in the 1st round. I'd take him over Brady Quinn.

2nd round
Beason makes sense in the 2nd round. I'm hoping for Drew Stanton, but I don't think it's going to happen without a trade. We could offer our 4th to Oakland to swap 2nd round picks. But I'd only do that to get Stanton. And even then, I'd offer them McMike before I'd offer our 4th round pick.

C - If Stanton's not there, and we can't swing a trade, I'm hoping for Kalil. But he'll probably be gone, too.

WR - Grab up Meachem if he's still there.
CB - If Daymeion Hughes or Aaron Ross are available, either of them would be a solid pick.
LB - Buster Davis would make me very happy.

DE - If everybody else is gone, but Anthony Spencer is still available, you gotta take him as BPA. Stay away from Woodley I think. He would be a reach anyway. More of a value if he's still available when we pick in the 3rd round.
K - Mason Crosby maybe? Definitely in the third round if he's still there.

3rd round
Can't argue with Bennett. But like I said, if Woodley or Crosby are still available, I'd give one of them the nod before Bennett.

LB - Rufus Alexander would be a steal.
CB - Eric Wright would be a steal.
C - You gotta take Datish if he's available.
WR - Tony Gonzalez or Craig Davis would be great (if we don't get Meachem in the 2nd).
QB - Trent Edwards or Kevin Kolb are possibilites here.
DE - I like Dan Buzuin or Jay Moore if they're still on the board.

OT - Ryan Harris would be a real good value here, but he will most likely be gone. Also, if we get Levi Brown like I hope, then we've already got Vernon Carey on the other side. I hate drafting guys who I know are going to be backups.

4th round
Alleman is an excellent pick. But only if we don't pick up Kris Dielman via free agency.

K Justin Medlock should be the pick here. And say goodbye to Mare.
CB - Josh Wilson is fast. Very fast. And he had a good week at the Senior Bowl.
WR - Johnnie Lee Higgins would be a real good value.
C - Samson Satale or Kyle Young would both be excellent selections.

QB - Carson's little brother, Jordan Palmer might be worth a 4th round pick. Then again, he might not. Eli Manning anybody? Tyler Palco wouldn't be a bad pick since we don't have a 5th. John Beck might also be worth a look (if we don't get Quinn, Stanton, Edwards, Kolb, or Palmer).

LB - Juwan Simpson might fall due to off the field issues.

6th round
Jacoby Jones is certainly an option. But I'd prefer Brandon Myles or David Clowney. They're proven playmakers.

C - Dan Mozes would be a steal in the 6th. Dustin Fry's stock is also rising. Actually, Fry might be the better pick.

CB - David Irons has a ton of value here. I like Michael Coe, too. He had an INT in the Senior Bowl.

QB - Drew Tate might still be on the board.

7th round
I'll take Ramonce Taylor instead of Justin Vincent. The 7th round is for special teams if you ask me. And Taylor is faster. I'm looking for a guy to haul down the field, and make a tackle.

That's why I actually prefer safeties on special teams. They're fast, and they know how to hit. So before Taylor, I'm gonna take Josh Gattis if he's available.

But the steal here could be CB Tim Mixon. Before he tore his ACL, some scouts thought he was the better prospect over his teammate, Daymeion Hughes. Also, he returns kicks.

What I'm hoping for:

1 - LT Levi Brown, Penn St.
2 - QB Drew Stanton, Michigan St.
3 - LB Rufus Alexander, Oklahoma
4 - K Justin Medlock, UCLA
6 - C Dan Mozes or Dustin Fry
7 - CB Tim Mixon, Cal

I'd love to have a 5th round pick. I'd take DT/DE David Patterson, Ohio St. Perfect fit for us.

Mate....I like Brown and have done for a while. Beason, IMO that's too high for him. I think we could get a quality performer in R2 and I have Beason as a later pick. Craig Davis would be a tremendous pick here. Bennett is a good player, that would be a nice pick. Alleman is on our radar. Smaller than a Houck lineman, but so strong. Very much on our radar. I think he'll go earlier than that. I've not seen Jacoby Jones play and I was a huge fan of Vincent's and I think that would be a shrewd signing.

Yea, I hope Ross is there in the 2nd, or like Boomer said Craig Davis would be nice. If we could get CB in the 2nd, I'd love Alexander in the 3rd. And despite my hopes, I've been informed Alleman won't be there in the 4th :sigh: So we may have to hope he is even ther in the 3rd to have a shot at him. If we went for a kicker, I'd rather look for a UDFA or FA.

And David Irons is probably looking at late 1st day at the current moment, not 6th.

Well hopefully one of the higher rated corners, Spencer, Rice or Poz falls to us at #40. I would be perfectly happy with Craig davis at #40 though.
