Strief to Miami?....

Ralph Cindrich ‏@RalphCindrich 21s

I was made aware from the Dolphins that there was an incorrect perception the Dolphins were spurned-not the case. Saints negot's heated up.

Miami should now up it's offer. New Orleans' Mickey Loomis pulled out a bizarre move to land Byrd. Saints do not have the cash to compete, they are strapped.
Strief refuses a better offer or takes a lot less. Time to put the pressure on. This could be good.

It does sort of reek of him using Miami as leverage, but who knows.. This isn't Ireland's Dolphins anymore

Probably intended to push the Saints FO into upping their offer but it's tough to spend money you don't have

Nowhere in all this does it seem MIA is a priority to them. Appears he will get what he can to stay in NO. Hopefully I am wrong.

What a dumbass. Everyone on this board already said NO can't afford Strief without cutting 5-6 low tier players. And even then it would be a peasants contract.

Maybe Strief is hoping Brees, Evans and/or Grubbs will restructure their contracts to free up some cap space for him to sign a reasonable contract.

You could be right but if there is a decent difference, it is good to put pressure on both Loomis (to either find more $ or cut other players - he's strapped) and Strief (to consider moving on).
It is clear Strief would prefer to stay where he lives. However, it is likely that his Agent is telling him to take the Miami offer.

According to OverTheCap.com, New Orleans have less than $2 million is cap space. Strief will have to accept a contract close to vet minimum to resign with NO.

Exactly! You can't turn down a visit (twice now) and then start crap like this. Its a ploy to get NO to get it together.

Using us.

He may try. If Hickey treats this situation like he did the others, it won't work. Give the player and his agent a few hours to consider the offer or we move on to someone else.
