I know its way too early to talk Super Bowl and it was only one win. But found an interesting stat that bodes well for Miami.

The Patriots are seldom out of games at the end. Whether it be the refs, Brady's 4th quarter play or whatever they are always in it until the end even when they loose. But Miami's double digit win took the end of game Patriots miracles away.

In the last 55 games dating back to 2011 season the Patriots have only been beaten 3 times by double digits. Both of the previous teams that defeated the Patriots by double digit went on to make it to the Super Bowl.

2012 Baltimore beats New England 28-13 and goes on to win Super Bowl
2013 Denver beats New England 26-16 and goes on to lose Super Bowl
2014 Miami beats New England 33-20 and ?

The previous 2 drubbings came at the end of the season in the playoffs so it may be a bit early to start celebrating.
But one can hope.

Three straight Super Bowl wins for Miami I'd say.

That firsthalf was terrible, no way you truly believe this.

The first half was disappointing, it was frustrating but in no way was it terrible. We punted twice, the other three times we turned the ball over, the patriots did not stop Miami- Miami stopped Miami.

I would not talk super bowl either, been beaten up way too often. Even through the Marino years, every year I joined in the mass thinking that this was the year for another super bowl. And nothing...

The thing is this win felt a bit different, and no I am not saying the dolphins are elite or even great, I am just talking this one win.
It was different and this is coming from one that has seen nearly every snap of dolphins football in the last 20 years and followed this team since 1969. From the emotion of the players on the field to the offense execution to the defense suffocating their opponent- every phase of the game. I had not seen that type of football since, well not since the 70s.

And yes it is only one game and yes, next week they could very well slip back into being the dolphins we are used to. Who knows what sparked that explosion and they very well may slip back into being the dolphins that make us cry on a weekly basis but it has been WAY too long since we had the enjoy this type of win and I say talk, brag, dream big we deserve it even if it is only for a week, who knows when we get the chance to do it again.

And if this is a fluke and they are the same old dolphins and they break our hearts again well, we are used to it. At least we had a week of dreaming.

As far as the fire "entertaining" fire Philbin, start Moore crowd goes I can say one thing without a shred of doubt. If Miami played or plays like they played Sunday there isn't a team they could not beat. Of course they have to prove they have the capability of playing like that on a weekly basis.

We beat New England last year and proceeded to lose the next two. We will be fortunate if we go to Buffalo and win. One game at a time.

That was my thought process. I'm sitting watching the end of the game and seeing Brady powerless at the end because of the 2 score lead.
That just doesn't happen very often. 3 times in the last 55 games, 23 times in the last 200+ games. The post was made to point out the fact that we just did something that only a few have done in recent history and those that had accomplished blowouts went on to pretty good stuff. Doesn't mean its going to happen to us.
The 3 previous times we have stomped on Brady haven't accounted for much. The 1st time we did it we lost the game later in the season and lost the tiebreaker to Patriots and ended up with wildcard instead of division title. The following year the same thing happened and we missed the playoffs completely. And the final time the 21-0 shutout kept us alive with playoff hopes which were quickly dashed the following week in Buffalo. So this is a 4th time to get it right. Take the lead in division, keep it all year long and make the season mean something.

I had actually thought the post might warrant some debate. Something like OK the Patriots have only been dominated 3 times in 3 years but 2 of them happened back to back. Even though they are following over from one year to another this is still unprecedented. Patriots got smoked 2 games in a row. This doesn't happen. Maybe they are done. Stuff like that. But instead nothing but ridicule.

Thanks to those that did provide some positive response and have some basic intelligence.

There was no need to mention the Super Bowl anywhere in your post. You should have known that you were setting yourself up for people pointing, and laughing at you. Now, if you would have just said something about a possible "Changing of the tide" within our division, that would have been more understandable.

Understood, Thought about the title and went with it due to the previous teams season results. Added ? to imply discussion, not fact.

We are missing 3 starting linebackers (who weren't that great to begin with) and we're still not quite sure how our new OL is going to stack up against a dominant DL (such as what we'll have to face if we start making some noise). I think most people would agree that the thought of Miami in the Super Bowl this season is insane.

But I will tell you this. I saw a very talented football team on Sunday. I saw a football team that is more talented than a couple of other teams I have seen in the Super Bowl recently. All it takes is for Ryan Tannehill to get red hot for this team to make a run, and I truly believe that. Look at the Ravens a couple of years ago -- I do not think that was an amazing football team -- Joe Flacco, who is not an incredible QB, had an incredible run in the postseason and they won it all.

If the emotion, the heart, the intensity, the courage, and the desire I saw from the Dolphins on Sunday is something that can be brought to the field each week, I really believe it all comes down to a hot quarterback.

This is why I believe homefield advantage is pretty much imperative for us. Because Tannehill would only have to be "hot" for two games as opposed to three. And whatever advantage the heat and humidity gives us now I believe its increased 10 fold in January.

If that was a bad game from Tannehill for the season then we're in great shape and double digit wins is pretty much a certainty. On the other hand if that was an average game from Tannehill then it'll likely be an up and down season resulting in a battle for a wildcard spot again.

its kinda early to tell for sure, but it looks like we finally have a team we can be proud of. alot of people are complaining about Tannehill, but he's the best QB we've had since Marino.
