**Super Thread** Clowney/Tunsil Trade Rumor (merged too many times)

Armondo's latest article about this potential Clowney trade is spot on. The only way this deal works for Miami, is if No Draft Picks are involved and its a player or players for Clowney deal. Other than Tunsil, Baker, Fitzpatrick, Howard and Wilkins everyone is fair game. I agree with all of what Mondo wrote.

He has to agree to his destination (or not sign the tender). I don't believe Vindictive O'Brien could send him anywhere he didn't want to go.
If he doesn't sign his tender he starts losing $1mil/game when the season starts. If he signs his tender, he's at the mercy of the club as I understand it

Not too many teams this late in the pre season can fit that salary in.

Good write up and I'm starting to see this too. But more OL please.:)

Even if the Clowney pursuit doesn’t end successfully, I like the Dolphins’ aggression. I love the understanding that this ground-first reboot cannot come entirely from the draft. That a judicious trade or two for young stars are avenues to consider.

Shutdown corner? Done.

Premier left tackle? Done.

Elite pass rusher? Stay tuned.

Franchise quarterback? Wait eight months.

They are not there yet, no. But the Dolphins clearly are locked into the four essential positions as fundamental building blocks. They have a plan, and they’re going after it hard.

This move to get a premier edge rusher is about one or two year too early. Clowney is good but he is not elite. Bit of an underachiever IMO.

If I was Clowney I wouldn't be excited about this team either. That's why I think it's one or two year too soon.

This is gonna be the most exciting part of our season. I doubt it gets done. He and the texans have to agree to the term of the trade. Don't see it going down.

Here's a link to the last page of a very long Texans forum Clowney thread.

It's interesting because they are on top of the news and rumors plus funny how unrealistic they are about what Clowney trade should bring. You can go back a few pages for the full effect

Someone needs to explain this "plan" because what I see is more of the same ole same ole.

We traded for a guy we don't believe in with Rosen. If we have to wait 8 months for a franchise QB then why trade for the guy in the first place? You could have drafted McCoy and gotten yourself a Center and continued to build an O-line to setup your new QB for success.

Trading for a high priced, underachieving defensive player also seems like something we've done repeatedly with no results.

I don't see a plan I just see business as usual for this franchise that can't seem to get it right.

I read the article but I don't fully agree with it. Unless Rosen performs like '83 Marino we're taking a QB? I call BS on that. I'm fine with trading for Clowney if the price is reasonable but i'm also fine with drafting a top flight pass rusher in 2020.
I think they said we'd know in 8 months on the QB thing. Either Rosen lets us know or we'll be drafting a 1st rounder next draft.

Lol, we're talking about a three time pro bowler who just turned 26 years old.

True, but the Texans are the one's in a spot, not the Dolphins. Besides a sure handed Receiver that can at any time take a deep reception for a TD and a very good play making explosive RB is very good compensation, pretty darn good all by itself.
