**Super Thread** Clowney/Tunsil Trade Rumor (merged too many times)

I'm hearing Tunsil for a late 1st and J.Clowney.

IMO, It's really Tunsil for a late 1st rounder. Doesn't sound like J.Clowney is going to want to play for us or sign something long term at a reasonable price.

No thanks to Tunsil for a late 1st rounder. Of-Course an additional 1 or even a 2nd rounder and you have to take a pause and evaluate it.

Tunsil, A 1st and another 1st/2nd and J.Clowney becomes tempting.

Given Clowney's contract situation, I'd barely count him as part of the deal. So, forgetting Clowney, what type of compensation would you need for Tunsil? Consider that Houston is likely drafting in the 20s - especially with Tunsil on the team. I'd want at least 2 1st's.

I think a 2020 1 and 2, plus Clowney, is the floor. I couldn’t do it for less.

2 firsts in any capacity and its an easy trade for me, especially if Tua is the end game.

Maybe just me but this whole deal seems like a lot of clowning around...

This might well be one of those trades that just pisses off both sides.

Betcha if they give you an extra pick on top of the 2020 1 it’s a 2021 pick.

Teams love to play it forward

I think the Clowney aspect in return has to be considered a piece. You are getting the rights to him essentially for 2 years albeit at an expensive tag.

Of course he’s not gonna play nice if you tag him again in 2020.

You make this trade thinking Clowney is part of the plan. Imo

I think i'd rather keep tunsil and trade a 3rd or 4th for clowney. There's no guarantee clowney is signing a long term contract anyway. A 3rd for an expensive one year rental sounds fair to me.

if You go by draft value... Tunsil was a 13 =1150. Houston at 23=760.

That means IF you only value Tunsil at 13, we should get a 1 and 2.

Personally, I value Tunsil more as around the 5th most valuable player taken in the first 15 that year. That puts him in the 1700 range, which comes out to 1, 1, 3.

So you could call that two 1s and Clowney.

However, look at the rest of that 2016 draft. It really illustrates what a crapshoot it is.

I think they would do this only IF they believe they can emulate the Pats OL strategy. Otherwise, they have to spend one 1st on a tackle and he has like a 20% chance of working out.

This sounds like Miami has stumbled onto an offer they never expected, once they inquired about Clowney. Bill O'Brien isn't too swift as a GM. Grier, at the very least, has to see how far O'Brien will go in a desperate attempt to land Tunsil. 2 potential first round picks is hard to pass up, for a team desperately seeking it's very own franchise QB. This feels as if Miami could be looking at the gift it's been hoping to receive, outside of landing Tua or Lawrence?

Side note: if I am Texans ownership, I put the brakes on any trade that includes two high picks and Clowney. I wouldn’t let O’Brien bet his job with his replacement’s assets

I'm gonna be pretty upset if we trade Tunsil. We have the hardest time collecting even mediocre lineman, and we're going to get rid of one that fell in our lap? It always feels like this team thinks one of the most important positions is the least important position.
