Take the 19 Million and run ... straight to camp!

Who's career and check book is that really hurting though? Longer he holds out, the more it affects him personally.

I don't think that is necessarily true. He can re-enter the draft if it came to that. Would you want to go into a platoon situation with a team you know is lowballing you (and that is what it is -- the market clearly supports more than $19 million).

I still think we'll see this deal get done quickly after tonight's game.

Having the #2 overall draft pick is a HUGE advatage. you can get a game changing player, trade down for more players, trade for future draft picks. it gives you so many things that its given to the 2nd worse team in the NFL to allow that team to rebuild and improve the following few years. to simply throw it away because your not willing to pay the going rate for the pick is so asinine that to do so, would make you the laughing stock of the NFL.

While I appreciate your point, again, I must defer to the exertise of the front office to know what is best for the organization. Perhaps they feel if confronted with the choice of taking $19 Million guaranteed or not playing this year and going back into the draft next year, they feel he will take the money. But again, I trust Saban and the F.O. certainly more than myself or you or any other posters to make those choices.
