I remember reading something about Zimmer being an unlikeable guy...not good with authority and bosses. Who knows if it's true. But there's gotta be a reason why he hasn't gotten a chance at a HC job by now and seems to get turned away easily.

Maybe, but everything I have read about him seems to always be how much the players love him and how respected he is in league circles :idk:

I dont even want a "big" name...just cant figure out why we've crossed off the most qualified guy that we interviewed twice in Zimmer. I have much more faith in a staff he can put together than a guy with limited experience like McCoy. Honestly, Id rather keep Bowles than get McCoy. Zimmer has coached and had success with multiple teams and used multiple schemes. Hes a damn good coach and well liked and connected.

I dunno about Bowles.. although he had the Asst HC title, he's really another position coach leapfrogging the coordinator level just like Tony did. Beyond that I don't think he did a particularly wonderful job in that role either!

Im not big on Bowles either, but McCoy...just total meh to me.

Philbin...seems to have the respect of his players and has a ton of experience.

Does Philbin call the Packers offensive plays?

None would be my first choice but if any Philbin because I think he has the best shot at getting solid assistants and could mean we sign Flynn. Watch Indy sign Carmichael Jr and with Luck we won't sniff a Super Bowl the next ten years anyway so does it really matter ?

Evaluating other teams' assistant coaches is one of the hardest things you can do as a fan. It's not like evaluating players. You can't just go to the tape.

Yep, and this is why the next coach will make or break Ireland. He's the only one that had the inside info on the candidates, and if this new hire fails, the only person we can point to is Ireland.

In order of least disgust...Philbin, McCoy then Bowles. However I'm thinking Bowles would have the shortest leash when he failed and we could start our seach for a new coach in a year or two instead of four with the others. Bottom line is they will all fail unless we get a QB. Amazing how smart coaches look when you march out Brady, Brees, or Rogers. Even Jim Caldwell looked like a good coach while Manning was chucking the rock.

McCoy or Philbin, not Bowles.

For those calling the finalist list "a joke" or "pathetic", get over it, you don't know how these guys will turn out. You aren't interviewing these guys or know their plans. There is a reason why all three finalists have interviewed in other cities for head coach jobs. They aren't the big name like Cowher or Fisher, but lately it is the unknown names like these that turn teams around the quickest.

The biggest turn around in recent memory was done by Harbaugh, and he was a big name guy.

But it isn't even about hiring a superstar coach, it's about our options boiling down to an OC who doesn't call his own plays and another who didn't exactly have a great offense. Not everyone will just accept anything that Ross and Ireland do without questioning it, so I think it's you who has to get over that.

Philbin by default. My god has this franchise fallen.
