 Until you see it in a poll, it hadn't really hit how brutal these "finalists" are. McCoy it is.

I didn't see an option for pick random drunk out of the crowd.

I'm not excited about this list at all. I will support whoever they hire, and I hope said hire, proves me wrong.

ps.. BUT, this franchise hasn't proven me wrong in something like 12 or 13 years now.

Not sure about Greene as DC, the Packers defense was not exactly great. I would hire one of the offensive coaches and try to get Bowles for DC/Asst Head Coach. Maybe he has picked up a lot from Nolan the last two years and we would not have to make big changes on that side of the ball.

It seems to me like the Dolphins really want to hire Joe Philbin but are being careful because of the whole monkey wrench of the guy's son dying. I mean, if I'm reading tea leaves, that's what I'm reading.

They want an offensive guy, but I think they want to keep Todd Bowles so that they have continuity on defense, and when Philbin's son went missing and turned up dead, they felt like they had to get another offensive guy in the fold in case Philbin either quits football in general, takes his name out of consideration, or just appears unhinged. That's where the 11th hour interest in McCoy comes in, IMO. Putting Bowles in the mix for 2nd interviews is a way of flattering him into staying on as AHC/DC under the offensive coach.

But if Armando's reporting is correct that Philbin is ready to rock and roll and take over the Dolphins job if offered...then the Dolphins' fears may be put at ease.

I think it's as simple as:

1. They want a super charged offense,
2. They like the Green Bay offense,
3. The Draft options at QB have dwindled right out from under them (especially Barkley),
4. Philbin brings in a built-in quarterback option that has recently been announced will be an UNRESTRICTED free agent,
5. Philbin may be able to rob the Green Bay staff of some quality coaches.

That's all there is to it, IMO. I think Joe Philbin is the next Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins. I never got a good feeling about him, but I also never said I was definitely right about that. Evaluating other teams' assistant coaches is one of the hardest things you can do as a fan. It's not like evaluating players. You can't just go to the tape.

There is something to be said for a COHESIVE plan that involves a Joe Philbin importing a Matt Flynn and perhaps even a Tom Clements, and if you're lucky enough you might get Todd Bowles to stay on as Defensive Coordinator. There's never any perfect plan, never one plan that was the only correct answer, but the most ideal plans IMO are cohesive ones.

Wow, I would be extremely on board with a plan that has Flynn in it like that. Great post.

Not a McCoy fan. I voted Philbin.

It's like picking between a Mazda, Mitsubishi and Subaru when you there are both a Lexus and Infiniti showroom close by and more than enough in your checkbook to purchase either. :idk:

McCoy or Philbin, not Bowles.

For those calling the finalist list "a joke" or "pathetic", get over it, you don't know how these guys will turn out. You aren't interviewing these guys or know their plans. There is a reason why all three finalists have interviewed in other cities for head coach jobs. They aren't the big name like Cowher or Fisher, but lately it is the unknown names like these that turn teams around the quickest.

I was intrigued by Philbin early on, but wanted Billick, since we are down to three, Ill go Philbin. I'm all in if he's all in. If he feels he can't be our HC now due to his tragedy, I'd understand and move on. I'd appreciate the honesty. If he can come down here and transform this into GB South, let's do it!

Count me for bowles. It is evident no matter who we get, if we r going by that list, is not going to change the world. Bowles keeps the progress going. I have a really bad feeling we r going for philbin and are going to wind up with pioli/cassell in him and flynn. Or childress or cam cameron. I feel like, based off his interviews etc online, he doesn't have an aura or fire, and he never called his own plays. I want bowles or mccoy but fear its philbin

I feel like this is a presidential election where all the choices are rather poor. Having said that Id like to see Philbin given the shot. But is there really a guarantee Flynn will follow? I guess the chances are good if Ross spends the money and we implement an offense Flynn is comfortable in.

Those people who are saying Winston Moss for DC....wouldnt that be a lateral move from GB to here? Why would he want that?

I dont even want a "big" name...just cant figure out why we've crossed off the most qualified guy that we interviewed twice in Zimmer. I have much more faith in a staff he can put together than a guy with limited experience like McCoy. Honestly, Id rather keep Bowles than get McCoy. Zimmer has coached and had success with multiple teams and used multiple schemes. Hes a damn good coach and well liked and connected.

I remember reading something about Zimmer being an unlikeable guy...not good with authority and bosses. Who knows if it's true. But there's gotta be a reason why he hasn't gotten a chance at a HC job by now and seems to get turned away easily.
